Although rain tried to destruct my April trip to the Big South Fork region in Tennessee and Kentucky, the event still yielded 61 photos of a Roads Scholaring or closely related interest!

So read 'em and peep...

The stenciled route number markers used to be all over District 11. There were a number of them along KY 30 in Jackson and Laurel counties, and some on US 421, KY 80, KY 66, and a few other routes. I've seen them for US 119, KY 840, and a lot of other routes over the years. They're slowly disappearing. I think there may only be one left on KY 30, and it's on the recently-bypassed alignment and that sign will probably be replaced with a KY 3630 route marker.

Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

I took a trip to Tennessee's part of the Cumberland Plateau back in November of 2020. I arrived from Mammoth Cave area via KY 90 & US 127. On the way, I was surprised to see that KY still has signs up for Future I-66 on the Cumberland Parkway. If there is one thing I remember about the Twin Arches area, it is that the park service didn't even try to grade a trail and some areas.. giving us very steep stairs instead. While getting around the area, I clinched a few secondary routes, including 329, where I found this:

(As you can see, the weather wasn't favorable for me, either)
Other places I visited in the area include Historic Rugby and Fall Creek Falls.
