Tell me the locals have shortened that to the CoC Ring.
Huh?

As far as I know, the CoC doesn't control the signs. The PennDOT controls it.
ADD: To add on what I previously said, this not only is the longest sign in PA, its also the second longest on my trip.

This, indeed, is a mouthful.

So before I go to Greater Hazelton, I might think about going to Chamber of via the Commerce Beltway.

PA 424 is not even a beltway.  It is purely a east-west route (east end is at PA 93) even with its recent extension west of I-81 into Humboldt Industrial Park.
If you consider it a beltway. I've been there numerous times to fill up at the Turkey Hill. Not even considered a beltway IMHO.

Can't quote the thread anymore since it's locked. But probably this:

Roadgeekteen: "This thread is now the funniest."
tolbs17: "Seems like it!"

I don't know, the immaturity and childlike nature of the exchange makes it funny to me.

Quote from: TheCatalyst31 on November 19, 2024, 10:21:21 PMI know plenty of things about the geography and history of northern Illinois, and it doesn't make that drive any less boring. You can make side trips to see interesting things like Starved Rock State Park or the Illinois & Michigan Canal, but if you're just passing through it's two hours of flat cornfields.

I'm not going to disagree with it being mostly boring (unless there's higher end thunderstorms around), but I dispute the "two hours" of flatness:

Hill near Mile 17
There's the Illinois River valley
Hill north of Troy Grove
Hill north of Mendota
Hill north of US 30
Hill north of IL 72
Valley with rock cuts on the approach to Rockford

Woe betide if anyone from Appalachia reads this, calling those "hills". The river valley and the rock cut are the only geographic features of note here.

So now I know slightly more about the stretch from Normal to Rockford. Boring.

"Technically, it is not flat.  If you view it under an electron microscope, little bumps are revealed."

I'm probably the person who is most surprised that I don't have at least one kid out there.  I didn't per se "want" kids for most my life mostly because they are hyper expensive nowadays but wasn't fully opposed to the idea.  I didn't exactly take all the steps to prevent parenthood from happening in previous relationships prior to being married, it just never did.  Now that my wife and I are in my 40s it appears that window is most likely closing.
