Title: AHTD ITS
Post by: M86 on August 07, 2014, 03:00:24 AM
We all know that Arkansas/AHTD has some "catching up" to do compared to other states.

iDriveArkansas is a big step in the right direction.

These news stories are more.

Since the initial post on this topic we have hired a consultant to design a statewide traffic operations center from which our future ITS will be managed.

We are also looking into Road Weather Information Systems (RWIS).

Two of our workzones employ Automated Workzone Information Systems (AWIS) and we are actively working to integrate data produced at these locations into the IDRIVE ARKANSAS platform.

To say the least, AHTD is late to the ITS game, but really that is to our benefit. We don't have a current investment (and maintenance headache) in old technology like road sensors and b&w analog cameras. As we move forward we will be able to take advantage of new technologies that should produce excellent results!
