Parts of South Texas is expected to top out in the 90s practically every day for the rest of this February, and very breezy with winds approaching tropical storm level magnitude in several locations. Winds from the south may bring moderate humidity to the area, which will neutralize the risk of fire danger; dew points will remain in the 60s, may approach 70 degrees along the beaches, so heat index probably won't exceed the actual temperature by more than a couple degrees.

BROWNSVILLE: 94 high (+17); 70 low (+12)
CORPUS CHRISTI: 93 high (+19); 69 low (+12)
LAREDO: 96 high (+18); 68 low (+14)
McALLEN: 97 high (+18); 71 low (+13)

Unsure if temperatures will cool off after February turns to March, but until then, just enjoy the prime setup for windsurfing and sailing at the beaches.

Back home it's in the 20s and snowing, and that's pretty much the forecast every day for the next week. But here in Southwest Florida it's dry, in the 80s, and is expected to remain that way for that same full week.

It's interesting coming here about 5 months after Hurricane Ian. The photo is on Vanderbilt Beach adjacent to Naples; hard-hit Fort Myers Beach is off in the distance there, about 15 miles north. These buildings right along the beach look OK at first glance but on closer inspection a number of them are still unoccupied, surrounded by construction fencing and undergoing rehabilitation. However, go not even 1/4 mile inland, or in many cases just across the street from these beachfront buildings, and to my eye there's not much evidence that a major hurricane hit.

Agreed.

Weather cannot be described as "nothing" if it brings a freeway to a standstill and eventual abandonment.
