skluth

It's in the 50s and I'm freezing. At least it isn't raining today but we're still in drought conditions so I wouldn't mind a little more rain over the next couple months.

JayhawkCO

Currently 35 and sunny, but we're supposed to get somewhere between 8-14" of snow tonight.

Still remaining consistently mild here.....as the figures below indicate we're not as cold as we should be this time of the year.

BROWNSVILLE:      89 high (+16); 70 low (+17)
CORPUS CHRISTI:  86 high (+17); 67 low (+16)
LAREDO:               89 high (+19); 64 low (+15)
McALLEN:              91 high (+18); 68 low (+15)

The tropical moisture flowing in from the Gulf of Mexico will keep our Heat Index in the low to mid 90.
We're so far south that we're not even considered "The South"

The first day of the PGA Tour event here in skluth country was delightful.  Sunny all day, no wind, short sleeves from about 10:30 to 3 and just a light jacket before and after.  Unfortunately the players I followed today mostly struggled.

Today can't decide.  Bit of fog.  Bit of sun.  Some snow.  Rain for a while.  Now the sun is coming out again.

We've had a very warm winter so far. The climate average for the second half of January, the coldest time of year, is a high of 34 and a low of 14. In the next 10 days, all but one high will be above 34 (today was also an exception) and the lowest low is 17. And not just now; it's been this way pretty much all winter so far.

EDIT: NOAA disagrees with me on the low, telling me the lowest low, January 27, is 18.4°. There are still only two days out of the next ten with a low below 20. The high is in agreement.
Clinched, minus I-93 (I'm missing a few miles and my file is incorrect)

Traveled, plus US 13, 44, and 50, and several state routes

I will be in Burlington VT for the eclipse.

I don't feel our winter has been particularly warm, but the dearth of snowfall has been surprising. We've had maybe six or so inches to date, which is almost unheard of this deep into the season. There's been some rain (indicative of warmer temperatures), but also some mixed precipitation, and some light snows that either don't stick or melt the next day with temps hovering around freezing.

After shoveling snow up at Tahoe for about three weeks straight, PGA Tour in La Quinta, CA has been pretty much perfect.  It's chilly early but jacket comes off by about the 5th hole.  There was some breeze for a while on Friday afternoon but otherwise ideal conditions, and as you expect at this tournament the leaders (not pictured here) are -23 going into tomorrow's final round.

60 degrees and pouring rain with a little bit of lightning to go along with it. It was 84 a few days ago, which is way too warm for winter and I think tied the all-time January record high, so I'm not complaining.

Oh, and no snow this winter. But this is Florida.

JayhawkCO

A pleasant 34° and sunny. According to predictions, this will be the first year in the past thirteen without a 60° degree day in Denver. Most of the time we get snow and then it's warm in a couple of days and it all melts. There's still probably 6-7" in my front yard.

In Wichita, we have had no substantial snow accumulation since the big freeze just before Christmas.  I wonder if that will change soon, since we are headed for another bout of daytime highs below freezing this weekend.

Yesterday's snowfall has finally made it look like winter here after several weeks without snow (it's been a dreary start to 2023, with lots of overcast skies and dead grass). Today is overcast with a high of 0C/32F and low of -4C/25F. The rest of the week is expected to be overcast and slightly below zero C, with more snow starting Wednesday.
