Not for me. Every time I push it, it goes right to the green guide sign. Maybe it's an Android thing.

The project to construct an RCUT intersection on US 50/SR 32/SR 7 at Coolville is progressing, with a meeting set for tomorrow. The pedestrian path through the median is interesting - the highway thankfully doesn't cut through the center of town unlike Little Hocking.

ODOT built pedestrian/bike paths through the RCUT at OH 21 and Butterbridge Street in Stark County.

I'm not a fan of the U-turn nested inside the US 50/OH 7 interchange as proposed here.

South Bloomfield Secures Funding for Major US 23 Safety Improvement Project

Key upgrades include:

Center Double Left Turn Lane: A new center double left turn lane will be added throughout the town, enhancing traffic flow and safety.
Signaled Turn Lane: A new signaled turn lane will be constructed at the US 23/State Route 316 west intersection to improve traffic management.
Curb Cut Removal: In collaboration with local business owners, we will be removing curb cuts along the corridor to streamline traffic patterns.
Storm Sewer Replacement: All storm sewers will be replaced to improve drainage and mitigate flooding issues.

This should help a lot and tide the area over until the who-knows-when South Bloomfield bypass happens.

I just passed through there on Saturday. It was very slow going through the village because people turned left at multiple points on US 23. Coupled with the traffic lights and entering/exiting traffic, it makes for a hectic few blocks.

I did notice a chunk of the Renick family farm is now up for residential development. It won't be long before the entire corridor towards Columbus is developed.

Frankly, it's been basically the same for 20+ years. The Renick farm may not have gone up for sale for residential until people knew for sure that the 6-building DHL warehouse project proposed for the next farms to the east wasn't happening. They couldn't find a proper drainage solution for them.

edit: Current zoning in Pickaway County (except for one township not along 23) doesn't allow for subdivision development unless the tract has been annexed by a city or village. So that's going to slow things down.

It's probably low-traffic enough for ODOT to get away with it, but the nested U-turn is not one of ODOT's finest moments.

Having pedestrians in the middle of the RCUT is downright batty. This really needs a pedestrian overpass.

Just to be clear we DO NOT build jughandles in Ohio.

You can likely count the number of pedestrians per day on a single hand at Coolville.

That would be a Quadrant Route Intersection, not a jughandle.

Does anyone know if Seventeenth Street west of I-71 is closed to all the vehicle traffic during the State Fair?

I noticed the Fairgrounds is on both sides of the street with the sky ride visible in the above caption, so I'm going to say yes. Plus no pedestrian bridges or crosswalks which you would see if the fair operates both sides with through traffic.
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

Going by hazy memory, YES, 17th Street west of I-71 temporarily "Dead Ends" at the foot of the Ohio State Fair.

Way back when, ODOT would go as far as temporarily covering up the 17th Street overhead signs at the exit with a green panel that just said Ohio State Fair, FAIR ONLY,  or something to that extent, with temporary supplemental signage leading to that exit.

Not sure if they still go out of their way to fasten the temporary signs over the year-round signs, but since the fair is a 2+ week event -- including fair set up and tear down time in and around 17th St., it was probably worth their time and effort as it also hints that through traffic on 17th St. westbound is not allowed.

In the late nineties in a tourist magazine once featured the Ohio State Fair on the cover. It showed the sky ride taken from the ride itself with it showing a freeway next to it.

GSV shows the ride about a half mile or more from the nearest freeway not even in close sight of one. I'm assuming that the ride was relocated in the last thirty years.

A former coworker of mine is from Canton, he said he's been there and bragged what a great event it is.  The internet says the acreage of this fair is larger than the 49 other state's fairs making it the biggest of them all.

And yet, it seems more people go to the NY State Fair than Ohio's.

Although NY's State Fair does bring in good musical acts, I do have misgivings when comparing it to, say Minnesota's.  Still, it brings in about a million or more each year on average.

Of course, people also like dining at Olive Garden...

Yes, 17th Avenue is closed between the railroad tracks and the McDonald's during the Ohio State Fair. There is access from I-71 to the parking lots to the north of the fairgrounds for attendees, though.

In slightly related news, the Fairgrounds are currently going through major renovations. You can read more about the work at https://www.ohioexpocenter.com/p/about/expo-2050-master-plan.

17th Street in Columbus is a minor north–south street that doesn't intersect I-71. 17th Avenue is the one that has an exit from I-71 and passes the front of the fairgrounds.
Wait, it's all Ohio? Always has been.
