The Congressman associated with our favorite Interstate number, I-99, has died. Bud Shuster represented Pennsylvania's 9th district from 1973 to 2001.

I like it.  I didn't even know it existed when my family came across it on a road trip in 1990.  Rand McNally hadn't marked it well on their Bay Area inset map back then and we thought it was just a spur of I-580 until we saw the I-238 shields.  Good memory.

I saw it on maps first, not knowing the details, and assuming Rand McNally's proofreaders had missed an obvious mistake.

Question is will the gap between I-80 and Williamsport be filled before his grandchildren pass on?

Let's face it though I-97 is another waste of a number. It should be I-995.

I'm a fan of the chaos I-238 brings.  If for no other reason the number alone makes a boring Bay Area freeway interesting.  It's hard to stack the likes of I-97 and I-99 to the true anomaly that is I-238.

Most people don't care what number a highway bears, they just want it to take them where they need to go.

Or it was a copyright trap.
