I have never heard anybody locally argue that we need a freeway connection down to Vegas.  If a politician proposed that the political value would be to their opponent who would deride it as a colossal waste of money.

If it was in California, they'd be proposing a bullet train.

How exactly do you remove a gravel road when the unimproved ground surface in an area is basically gravel? It seems like, short of running a barrier of some kind over it, it would be pretty difficult to avoid people making their own RIRO access point if they really wanted one there.

That's what r/w fencing is for.

I thought it was mostly to keep animals out.

I never noticed, but that driveway used to have a crossover too. Some big gasoline tanker trying to make a left turn onto 101 SB must have been scary.

I absolutely despise it, and I've had some users tell me they have been using the forum less or not at all because of it.

That explains why forum checks have taken a LOT less time over the last few weeks.  I'm actually not looking forward to the idea of the forum going back to taking 3-4 hours/day of my time...

I as not aware that PennDOT was going into chain control mode on US 322 between Milroy and Sand Mountain Rd until yesterday morning.  (https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10220284456782075&set=pcb.10220284547264337)

PennDOT did the same thing on US 40 heading east out of Uniontown about two years ago. I don't know about the US 322 ones, but the ones on US 40 just use temporary construction flashers like you'd see on a barricade. Wade Avenue Extension: Rerouted NC 54 (requires a short duplex with I-40 between exits 290 and 289,  I would extend this on Wade Avenue to US 70/NC 50 at Glenwood Ave).
