I've clinched New York 980D.
Virginia secondary 10272 in Fairfax, and for primary routes FL 9336 to Everglades National Park, top my clinched list. This doesn't include the 9xxxx pseudo-routes in Virginia (numbers VDOT assigns to Federally-controlled highways), or six-digit Alaska internal inventory numbers.
I-894
VA 90003 (Colonial Pkwy) and SR 10076 (Fairfax County).
In all seriousness, KY 3226 for four-digit state routes, PA 999 for two-digit and three-digit state routes, US 522 for US routes, and I-895(MD) for interstates.

Technically yes. However, I wanted to give reasonable answers as well.
Yeah, I've clinched the Colonial Parkway, too. In terms of a real shielded route (none of those dinky rectangles) and just going off the top of my head, I'll go with KY 3527.
Mine would be PR 9938 in El Yunque National Forest.

My answer is the same as this.
Oh, for Pete's sake. How could I have forgotten FL 9336. Clinched that one.
Appears my highest is I-985 in Georgia, unless I've clinched a bigger FM/RM somewhere in Texas (and I'm pretty sure I haven't).
Maryland: MD-996 (Eggert Drive in Montgomery County), now decommissioned.
Also Maryland: I-895 (Baltimore Harbor Tunnel Thruway), definitely not decommissioned. Also I-895B and I-895A.
Virginia: Probably one of the secondaries over 10000 in Fairfax County maybe VA-10028, Col. Lindsay Drive in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County (outside the limits of Falls Church city). Col. Lindsay Drive intersects VA-10027, Col. Lindsay Court (https://www.google.com/maps/@38.8966909,-77.2047319,3a,15y,89.3h,88.72t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sAiPvIWbCk2uNhYQsLte_eA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) for an added bonus.
In terms of primary system highways, VA-895 (Pocahontas Parkway toll road) between I-95 and I-295 is the winner even though the route number is greater than 599, which implies that this should be a secondary system road (it's not).
In terms of roads in the traffic count book, the honor goes to VA-90005, the Virginia sections of the George Washington Memorial Parkway. Honorable mention to VA-90004, the Dulles Airport Access Road, the non-toll airport-only lanes parallel to VA-267 and VA-90003, the Colonial Parkway between Yorktown, Williamsburg and Jamestown. I have never seen a sign with the route numbers over 90000.
Westchester CR 1323, I guess. If only signed routes count, then probably NY 895 (Former I-895).
I'm another with FL 9336 and maybe something with 5 digits in VA, but I don't track travels on Virginia secondaries.
FL 9336
Mine is A-973 in Québec City.
JC 9003 (Purchase Pkwy, KY)
I knew it had to be over 9000 :sombrero:. Provincial road HU-V-9532, done as a child (and thus obviously not driving).

The National Park Service wouldn't let them be posted even if VDOT made them available. Unless a historically accurate cutout version was approved by the National Register of Historic Places (which, of course, is administered by the National Park Se.....) :banghead:

Two of the three VA 9xxxx routes have some non-NPS routings.
I need to take a look at my state routes (tons of 4 digit KY routes), but for interstate, it's I-865.

AR 980 in both Morrilton and Carlisle. There are other locations for AR 980 too, so it may not completely count. If it doesn't, MS 713.
I-990 on one of my trips back east; was heading to Niagara Falls and decided "wtf, may as well clinch it while I'm here". As an aside, have clinched I-980 more times that I can recall. Been on the south end of I-985 once; but only as far as the GA 20 interchange.
LA3257.

Joining the SR 10272 club. That really needs to become part of VA 243.
Harrison's AR 980 (Airport road).
FL 9336 (signed)
VA 90004 (unsigned)

I rechecked my notes and clarified that I am actually in that club too. I clinched it on 3/6/2021 (after clinching SR 10076 back in January).
My thinking is that this is not part of VA 243 mainly because of the weight limit on US 50 here.
Signed: I-980
Signed only on reference markers: 8955 in Illinois (https://goo.gl/maps/U1MH5VRYCw57pmx6A)
Unsigned: KY 9009 (part of the Mountain Parkway)
Expanding beyond my FL 9336 answer to some other categories:
2di: I-99
3di: I-990
2dus: none

Business I: I-376 BL, Moon, PA
Bannered US: US 460 Business, Lynchburg, VA
Canada: A-973
Outside North America: B182 in Austria
AS A PASSENGER: I may have clinched KY 3192 near Wilsonville, KY in 2006, since it is near where my best friend lived at the time.
AS A DRIVER: I-980 in Oakland, which I take on an average once every six weeks or so.
TX FM-2678 comes to mind.

Yeah, I guess we can do by road type:
I-980
US 730
PR9989
A-930 in Candiac, QC
I'm afraid I have the lowest here: SC 781.

For those that live west of the Mississippi and haven't traveled a ton east of it, it's hard to get into the 800's+.
I-990 for real roads, and probably for fake roads too.
A3215 in London. It's just a slip ramp.
For non-cheating answers, FL 882.
Texas FM 3345
If you count unsigned designations, the answer would be the Cumberland Parkway in Kentucky, unsigned KY 9008.
I-980 in California. Lots of people have clinched that because it's only a few miles long.
ND 810. For signed highways it is I-694.
I haven't looked into this question in depth, but my answer is probably Texas FM-2248.
I-894
MD 924 in the US, and NB 955 in Canada and all of North America.
Not quite clinched, but I have been on almost all of PA 997.
My guess is --- many of you only know this road due to its being at the exit just to the east of the Blue Mountain tunnel on the mainline of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (around mile 198 or 199). Heading westbound on Turnpike, this is where my heart takes a (happy) jump, because the road gets very scenic after that.
I have been on it from the PA Turnpike all the way south to the MD line. There is a short portion north of the PA Turnpike I have not been on.
Almost certainly I-985 (Georgia) for me, lol.
MD-978
The highest one I could find is SR-1721 in Hollymead, VA. There is probably a few higher numbers though.
The highest route that isn't a VA Secondary is I-785 NC.

FL 9336
Looking back at my entry in this thread, I think I may have to rescind my response of FL 9336.
Although I have ridden the entire length of what is
now FL 9336, that was back in the 70s when that road was still designated at FL 27. My philosophy is to count the number of the road
at the time of travel rather than what it is today. (That doesn't mean my rule has to be your rule)
So the route number I have been on 100% of is now the more modest MD 953.
For me, I-894.
What is the 'secret' number of the Taconic State Parkway in New York again?
Mike
For me, I think it's KY 1631, but I'm not 100% sure; I drove it on a trip to Kentucky Kingdom without noticing it was a state highway at the time, and I'm not sure if I drove to the southern end before turning around or not. If I don't count that, it's IN 931.

Still at 9532 for me. I may want to catch that 9998 I have available in my province (I even drove by it on my way back from Toulouse, but I wasn't alone) :sombrero:.
For me, I-664
896: I have DE 896 and MD 896 clinched and almost have PA 896 clinched
I clinched Texas FM 3255 in the El Paso area.
I-691 in Connecticut is my highest.
