Anyone have an NC-12 they'd like to sell?  The only state shields I have are an older, narrow Oh-151 and a really beat-up I-95 (no state name).

Wow...that is beat up...here's a graphic version of that shield (Based on Wikipedia counterpart):

Where did you get it?

Got it from Chuck C in Louisiana just before my last trip...

He had it on eBay and we worked out a small deal....

Hot Rod Hootenanny

Who was the guy from Michigan who used to collect orders for replica road signs on MTR?
I bought a replica (Retro) US 61 Mississippi shield from him 8-10 years ago.
Please, don't sue Alex & Andy over what I wrote above

agentsteel53

that would be Ron Wilbanks.

do you have a photo of your MISSISSIPPI US 61?

^Hey, what Ohio shields do you have?  I saw you have 46 and 83.  Any more?

Ian

Is there any states that do give away older shields ?

Just wondering

What kind of Ohio shields do you plan to get? I'd like to be part of that list  :sombrero:

Thanks!

OK, for those who wanted Ohio shields, good news and bad news....

First the bad news.....when i did go visit last week, they didnt have but a few in stock (and i doubted any of you would have wanted a plastic tube Ohio shield from a construction zone....)  So, i didnt get any

The good news is, the guy told me to come back towards the end of September, early October when they are finishing up some projects, and they should have quite a few on hand then....

SO....there may not be much choice in numbers, but hey, considering that ODOT is permanently closed to sign collectors, we'll take what we can get....

QuoteThe only neutered CT I-shields i ever saw were those used in and around construction zones...made by private contractors.

all STC-issued I-shields are still proudly emblazoned with 'CONNECTICUT'

Yes... I'm sure these permanent shields were also made and placed by contractors on the Route 20/I-91 connection.  Not only neutured, but a hideous extra dark shade of blue, and terribly uncentered "91"
I have noticed these same shields on a few overhead BGS's in the area as well, like on I-291 WB approaching the I-91 Interchange, must have been the same contractor.
Sorry for the blurry.  It's 7 am on a saturday moring and I just buzzed out and took this cuz I knew it was there.  I wasn't circling around again for another attempt

How about THIS gem on state maintained roads at bradley airport, another contractor disaster clearly:  Other than situations like these, just about every state shop shield I've ever noticed does have CONNECTICUT on it.

These must qualify for some ugly award.

Yeah, time to update the list a teensy bit

My wishlists:

Interstate (all state-named):  Maryland, North Carolina, Hawaii, Indiana,  Delaware, District of Columbia, Tennessee,

US (state named)  Rhode Island, District of Columbia, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, Mississippi, W. Virginia, California, Oklahoma, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Utah, Virginia Idaho (spoo!)

State Route:  Delaware, Kentucky, District of Columbia

Thanks!

If you ever get tired of looking at the AR 10 cut-out, I may be interested in taking it off your hands ;)

I am certain of that, but the AR-10 cutout is engaged in important work, upholding a place of honor along Cutout Alley (ask Jake, aka Agentsteel53)

I won't claim to be a big sign collector, but I've bid on a 1970s demountable button-copy 8" letter on eBay.

I'd love to get my hands on shields for M-28, M-35, US 41, maybe I-75. Cutouts preferred, but modern ones wouldn't be turned down. I think they'd be good wall art for a future office area in my apartment.

mightyace

There are a few specific things I'd like to get a hand on:

Pennsylvania and Ohio state named I-shields.  Preferably I-80, I-76, I-71 and these would be toughies I-80S, I-81E!  Neutered shield would be OK as well.

I-83 shields including state named for MD and PA.  An I-83 Business from York, PA would be highly desirable.

US highways: 11, 15, 30, 522, 220

PA routes: 42, 44, 54, 487 and a tough one 9! (old NE ext.)
Ohio: 8, 43, 59, 91, 235
