Man, reading this thread, there is a lot more drama on here than I thought. I thought that Alanland was the extent of it.

Also, there are some gems in the random thoughts thread.

Possibly the best one I have found so far:

Death by peanut allergy is the most pathetic way to die, considering a peanut cannot defend itself. It was your conscious choice to approach and/or eat said peanut.
I build roads on Minecraft. Like, really good roads.

There's really not. There's usually somewhere between zero and one Problem User at a time. It's just that the most recent Problem User decided to be enough of an idiot about it he got himself banned. And then came back with a sockpuppet and was obvious enough about it that people in this thread figured it out (before I did, embarrassingly enough). Once they did and it gave me the idea to run the IPs, that made it clear as day.

Just remembered this one. Although now I think, that entire thread is full of great quotes :sombrero:.
Quote from: Super Mateo on April 12, 2018, 10:29:14 PMNah, US 420 can replace US 97, which goes through both Grass Valley, OR and Weed, CA.
Supporter of the construction of several running gags, including I-366 with a speed limit of 85 mph (137 km/h) and the Hypotenuse.

Please note that I may mention "invalid" FM channels, i.e. ending in an even number or down to 87.5. These are valid in Europe.

I would renumber US 97 as US 420 because it's southern terminus is at Weed, CA :D. Also, it meets US 20, so numbering makes sense that way.

Subway trains can't go 120-150 mph like most cars can though.

Cars can't go anywhere near that fast in NYC (nor above 65mph elsewhere in NY), so that argument is absolutely meaningless. Also, where would all of the extra cars park?

But Subway trains never exceed 40 mph, and yes during thr pandemic you were able to go 100-120 mph on even the most normally congested roads.

Because driver licensing is a slippery slope to toaster licensing?

I've actually driven a toaster several times.  The old Westinghouse C-100 rubber-tired people movers are unaffectionately known as "toasters".

Here's one of the old original underground toasters from Atlanta Hartsfield (now Hartsfield-Jackson) International Airport:
https://www.train-museum.org/locomotives-rolling-stock/transit/westinghouse-apm/

Interestingly, someone took the time to show how these got to the Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth, Georgia:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/grether/albums/72157623659354924/

I never got to drive any at Atlanta, but I did get to drive some of the second fleet at the Miami DPM Metromover.  If you scroll down far enough in the Flickr slideshow, you'll see some cars from the first fleet.  I also got to drive one on the test track at Westinghouse.  That fleet was actually purchased by Atlanta Hartsfield, who later cancelled the order.  I'm pretty sure that they got resold to (then) Metro-Dade Transit Agency, which meant the unpainted one that I drove on the test track was likely one of the ones I got to drive in Miami.

...What makes it unfortunate (or maybe not) was that I was abducted by a Chinese massage parlor. The woman stripped me down naked and didn't wasn't clear on the rate. She did a halfway decent job, and she didn't perform any sexual acts on me (not that I would've minded if she did), but her broken English made it hard to figure out how much she wanted to charge me. Since then I've stuck to the LIRR, unless I want to go someplace at or close to Flushing.
