If you believe roads are job creators, Binghamton, NY should be El Dorado.

Quote from: epzik8 on October 06, 2024, 07:14:50 PMCommanders-Ravens is gonna be epic next week. Shame on CBS for protecting it from flexing.

Why? The are doing what they the contract calls for.

I know, I just feel like it's primetime caliber at this point.

I didn't think they could start flexing this early in the season
(Granted, I may be thinking of previous TV contracts, and that is no longer the case)

I also don't think they can flex this early, plus there are limits on how often teams can play in prime time. Washington probably nowhere near that limit but Baltimore might be. CBS and FOX have to get some of the best games in order to keep paying what they pay.

A few years ago the NFL modified the rules where Week 5 is now the earliest a game can be officially flexed to Sunday night, but it's more restrictive than later season flexing. For example, in the later season, CBS and FOX only get a limited number of protections where they have to use them wisely. However if the NFL decides they want to flex before Week 11, CBS and FOX automatically get a protection to use during whatever week the NFL is looking to make a change.

What current progress has been made on the Sam Houston Tollway Bridge over the Houston Ship Canal?

I see the last drive by Google shows only the approachways with a shallower vertical rise than the 1982 structure. However that's 2023 the last google image.

I see it started in 2018, so five years and no work seems like problems. Did Covid slow it down or have other issues like Corpus Christi Bridge has been going through?

Quote from: Rothman on October 07, 2024, 02:35:56 PMWonder how many roads to prosperity they need before actually being prosperous.

Well, I know that was a going-for-a-laugh line, but imagine West Virginia, and all of Appalachia, without the good road that today make life acceptable, and business possible, for millions of forgotten Americans.  Remember that I-77 and 79 were not original parts of the Interstate system, and the ARC corridors were a close run political thing as well.

While I am not a real believer that the King Coal/Colfields Expressway tandem will ever be finished, nor will they really serve much use if they ever were, do-nothing-ism is never the right answer.  Corridor H, which should have been finished four decades ago, will be a major jobs producer and save many lives.

That is correct. That section is known as Freeman Gulch.

Quote from: vtk on October 07, 2024, 08:19:25 PMCurrent OH 4 between I-70 and US 40, west of Springfield, was (according to contemporary maps) first built as I-70, US 40, and OH 4, if I remember right. Not sure if it was *officially* in the Interstate system, but I am reasonably confident it was actually signed as I-70. Still a freeway today; has an interchange in the middle of the section.

Do any scans of those particular maps exist online?

See the 1961 map at https://www.dot.state.oh.us/maps/archivedmaps/1961.pdf.

Thanks for the info!

I have updated the list of ex-Interstates: https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=5438.msg2919292#msg2919292

Speaking of that Ohio map: I zoomed in on the Columbus part...is that actually showing I-71 along what is now the OH 315 freeway (and a short segement of today's I-670)?
