 :sombrero:

Dozens of Dutch speed cameras were gift-wrapped throughout the country.  :spin:

We know the perpetrator drives a VW Golf :colorful:

Seriously though, I remember one here being gift wrapped a few years ago.

That British one still works (not that it's legally valid though).

Nicer than the normal presents of necklaces that they tend to get.

(note - necklacing is where you get a tyre full of petrol/tire full of gas and burn it while something is wearing it - destroys the speed camera)

Yeah they frequently set speed cameras on fire in the Netherlands too...

Brandon

Serves them right.  This sort of enforcement is more about revenue than about safety.  Shoot, it's all about revenue.

There was a Dutch website called tuftufclub which featured pictures of vandals in action but it went offline years ago.

It turned out to be a PR stunt of Go Fast beverages. They gift-wrapped a total of 250 speed cameras throughout the Netherlands. There are 1700 fixed speed cameras in the Netherlands.

A real present would be if the gift box obscured the camera until the holidays are over!

But, we all know how likely that is!  (A government voluntarily forgoing revenue. )

What if the victims who received fines due to the cameras asked Santa to wrap them up for Christmas (obviously covering the lens)?  :sombrero:  Driving on a freeway at 1 AM and seeing Santa wrapping up a speed camera? That'd be hilarious!  :-D

Ian

Nice, I have always wanted a speed camera as a christmas present!
