Bobby Hull was my father's favorite Blackhawk growing up. Even now, I still hear the stories of his legendary slap shots and how he won a Stanley Cup, which turned out to be Chicago's last for a half-decade until Jonathan Toews came along.

According to the Hockey Hall of Fame, Bobby Hull was the fastest NHL skater ever: 29.2 mph or 47 kph.

In 2022, Dutch skater Kjeld Nuis surpassed his own world speed record by reaching 103 kph on a frozen lake in Norway. However, he was skating behind a wind break mounted on a truck driving ahead of him.

The final score was a drag, but Saturday night's game was a very good time. I hadn't been back to the Triangle in a very long time–this year is 25 years since I graduated from Duke and I've only been back once before–so it was nice to visit again.

Plus we had really good seats for the game. I took this right after the opening faceoff. My seat was at exactly the center red line.

My wife picked up this reusable grocery bag at Wegmans yesterday. Burning question: Is it better at holding groceries than the Capitals are at holding a lead?

Well, you could've got the Leafs one.  Strong and durable, except the only caveat is that it self-destructs when the weather gets warmer at the end of April.

Well that's not a surprise that he was traded.

For a change, I'm enjoying the Kraken's second season. They're currently fourth in the Pacific Division, and at 33-21-6, they've already surpassed their total from last year. Apparently, the old days of slowly and painfully building an expansion team are long gone, as the Vegas Golden Knights' run to the Stanley Cup Finals in their inaugural season shows.

As for the Blackhawks, it was better than good while it lasted; with those three Stanley Cups from the last decade, it was great. Although I will miss Patrick Kane, I wish him the best of luck with the Rangers.

Quick, he was gone.
I think I've spent more time in the AAroads chatroom than Quick did in a Blue Jacket jersey.

It seems that they want to give the expansion teams a better chance to be in the playoffs, so they give them more talent. Given that the Golden Knights still have a great team and are leading the Pacific Division, I won't be surprised if the Kraken would compete for 1st place not far in the future.

I was watching a Bruins game at Texas Roadhouse yesterday that had closed captioning that used automated speech-to-text. Brad Marchand became a Martian.

The Bruins have broken the NHL record for most wins in the season. But I only care about one thing this year.

It's certainly up there for me with march madness and the NFL playoffs. Much better than the NBA playoffs.

Depends if Carolina wins or loses - best playoffs MIGHT be 2nd round instead of 1st

1995hoo

Simple task for the Islanders tonight: Get one standings point and you're in, eliminating Pittsburgh.

(I've seen multiple comments that the league would then find a way to fix the draft lottery so Pittsburgh wins, although that would involve changing the rules. A few years back they amended the rules so that a team's draft position can't improve more than ten places, which means only the bottom 11 of the non-playoff teams are in the lottery.)
