Title: WV: Carrollton Covered Bridge Burns
Post by: Bitmapped on August 12, 2017, 11:19:17 AM
The Carrollton Covered Bridge in Barbour County, West Virginia was heavily damaged by fire on Thursday night. The bridge spans the Buckhannon River and was built in 1856. http://www.wvgazettemail.com/news/20170811/wvs-third-oldest-covered-bridge-burns-in-barbour-county

I'm not sure how much of the bridge's load was carried by its wooden components. The bridge received a concrete deck and concrete support piers in the 1960s. WVDOH has suggested the bridge may be able to reopen soon, which given the amount of damage pictured to the wood, makes me think the wooden portion was merely decorative at this point.
