Here is the first intersection that US 27 encounters entering Ohio. Google maps show the US route either turning left or right on Pete Rose Way as Broadway is white lined north of there. Yet no shields in the photo and no mention on Google which way it goes.

Of course leaving Cincy it reappears at the I-75 and I-74 exchange to follow I-74 for a brief moment to exit at Beekman to continue north out of the city.

Any maps to show in details the alignments of all US routes in Downtown Cincinnati?

As I was curious to know things were routed, I created this map for a blog post with GIS data back in 2011:

This I found, but ODOT doesn't have a trailblazer for US 42. Only US 22 and OH 3 turn right here, as according to your map it does indeed turn here. Straight through only confirms US 27, 52, and 127.

It's like US 42 disappears.

Then US 27 turns right on Pete Rose from Kentucky and heads over one block or turns left on Pete Rose for one block and then one block again.  Again no shields installed either way.

This doesn't pertain to the topic, but to those possibly wondering where the thread title came from, it is a line from a 1940 Tex Avery cartoon titled "Of Fox and Hounds" .

The Warner Brothers cartoon. It was always said when a character ( usually a dim witted animal) can't find the trail of his prey.

Avery based quite a few WB and MGM cartoons, including the "George and Junior" series at MGM, on John Steinbeck's George and Lenny characters in "Of Mice and Men."  Avery himself voiced the "Lenny" (or "Junior") character in some of them.

Also inspired The Abominable Snowman in the Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck cartoon.  I will name him George and I will hug him and pet him and squeeze him.

I thought was "Which way did he go, Sam?"

See this GMSV which implies that US 42 north uses Central PKwy this far west - https://goo.gl/maps/6XhKxQ7GXnoZkHGi6

US 42 postings at this general location back to at least 2007

But that would be difficult for actual US 42 northbound to do given the reverse one-way splits of US 27-52-127 and there are no postings to support that.

There is a US 42 north trailblazer for 9th to Central - https://goo.gl/maps/QrfBQP4QdzX7nc889

Note that the first two US 42-127 NB turns coming from KY are also unposted back to at least 2007.

As for US 27, there did used to be a US 27 NB shield leaving US 52 SB in 2007 - https://goo.gl/maps/LhFNB3xXf97eUyCJ6
However there were no other US 27 shields in this area by 2007.
