Nope, he's The Little Yellow Man. Because my boss insists.

8th Avenue in SF between Kirkham and Lawton is marked as a freeway. At least that's what I saw on my iPhone.

EDIT: 8th Avenue has been fixed, however the same bug has now hit 6th Avenue between Balboa and Cabrillo.

There's a gap in US 97 south of Bend: https://maps.google.com/?ll=43.888446,-121.381202&spn=0.013408,0.033023&t=v&z=16
To be fair, they just recently (completed within the past few months) changed this section of highway from a 2 lane to a 4 lane divided freeway, and Google Maps seems to have leftovers from both on there :P

Also, zoom out a little and look what it calls the highway: "US Route 97 in California", though obviously this is in Oregon :P https://maps.google.com/?ll=43.909281,-121.368724&spn=0.107223,0.264187&t=v&z=13

Even worse, this also happens in Washington between Yakima and the Oregon border: https://maps.google.com/?ll=46.010147,-120.597878&spn=0.206734,0.528374&t=v&z=12

Okay apparently that is a very common bug and not worth pointing out, but the first one still counts.

I'm waiting for a "US 97 in California" to show up in British Columbia...

The A487 has recently moved to a new bypass of Porthmadog, with the old road called A4971.

Guess what google did...
http://goo.gl/maps/h8iu

...yes they labelled the whole A487 as A4971 (except the Porthmadog bypass, of course), though parts are also labelled correctly as A487.

Wow.  I LOLed when I look at this!

I really wished that Google Maps included some sort of graphic to label bannered US routes.  No, US 72 doesn't go through both Athens, AL and Decatur, AL. Even if it takes going at it Arkansas-style and labeling the business route US xxB or Tennessee-style with US xxA for alternate routes (e.g. US 41A in Tennessee).

Sheesh, where to begin?

First of all, FYI: there's a "freeway" priority (line type), and an "expressway" priority that are both (stupidly) shown the same color. So "freeways" with intersections (usually) aren't.

Expressways (freeways) shown yellow:

-http://maps.google.com/?ll=40.112624,-74.88131&spn=0.010076,0.013797&t=m&z=16 (there's a "freeway ends" sign on these "ramps," so yeah)
-http://maps.google.com/?ll=39.897687,-75.199571&spn=0.020216,0.027595&t=m&z=15 (the whole Platt Bridge up to 26th St.)
-http://maps.google.com/?ll=40.105846,-75.344367&spn=0.020154,0.027595&t=m&z=15 (202 from Dekalb St. to Main St.)
-http://maps.google.com/?ll=39.956267,-76.763191&spn=0.040396,0.055189&t=m&z=14 (30 from 462 to Kenneth Rd; the sad part is that they were right about it for a while)
-http://maps.google.com/?ll=39.931393,-76.691608&spn=0.040411,0.055189&t=m&z=14 (Bus. 83 from George St. to 83)
-http://maps.google.com/?ll=40.257521,-76.888504&spn=0.040218,0.055189&t=m&z=14 (the Taylor Bridge from 21st St. to Front St.)
-http://maps.google.com/?ll=40.255343,-76.810634&spn=0.010055,0.013797&t=m&z=16 (Eisen. Blvd/322 from Paxton St. up to 83)
-http://maps.google.com/?ll=40.262695,-76.691523&spn=0.040215,0.055189&t=m&z=14 (part 322, part 422 from Bridge Rd. to Lucy Ave.)

More soon... ;)

(BTW, if you think Google is bad, wait'll you see a map at the Independence Mall visitors' center in Philly! It makes you go :banghead::-D, and :eyebrow: all at the same time!)
Mileage-based exit numbering implies the existence of mileage-cringe exit numbering.

I don't see the problem with many of those, and the others are arguably borderline.

In particular, I see nothing at all wrong with I-95 at PA 413 and the Platt Bridge.

When did Google Maps fix the problem of the US highways in Illinois, Nebraska, Idaho, etc. from other states? I don't see these in Indiana at least.

Holy crap, I think the master programmers at Google finally fixed it.

How about this... Google Maps can take the old, decomissioned routes, and turn them into an alternate color US shield, to designate the roads as historic. I would even suggest the California cutout style for historic routes, since CalTrans pretty much wiped the idea of a U.S. route off the map. It would be awesome for people following the old routes, and those who are looking for a good road won't be sent off the Interstate in search of US 66 or something.

That would probably confuse the hell out of the masses, who really don't care what route US 270 used to take before the interstate was built. The only old highway most people give a thought to tracing is US 66...I imagine most people don't even realize there ARE other old highways.

Besides, how would you decide what the One True Routing of the old highway was? Or would you mark all possible old alignments (boy, talk about confusing). What would you do if a bridge was taken out on the old alignment, or if it was discontinuous because the freeway took over part of it?

The more I think about it the more I think a specialized Roadgeek Atlas is a great idea...but it probably wouldn't be marketable. It'd have to be a not-for-profit labor-of-love thing.

US 10 in Fargo, ND is listed as I-94.   I do not know if someone else brought that up already or not.

Sort of an Open Street Map, although in some cases, perhaps "Closed Street Map" would be an apt description. :P
