I was getting directions in Syracuse for a friend, and Google Maps wouldn't route me along Erie Blvd. over West St. Here's a map link.

It appears that bridge was closed for a while (until November 2010): http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2010/11/erie_boulevard_west_bridge_ope.html

I thought of that, but I never realized it was closed for 8 months.  Besides, I wouldn't think that Google Maps would have construction data in its base maps.  Street view shows the segment just fine.

Google maps does include major construction closures in its maps. Notice that the street in question is gray, rather than yellow. When I-40 was closed through the Great Smokies from rock slides, you could't route that way.

Sadly Google does put construction data in it's maps.  Often this means that the maps are wrong for years after when it would have been more correct to leave well enough alone.

I know.  Locally, the unfinished stubs of TN 840 are in there.

I went out Dickson way on Saturday to take the newly opened stretch of 840 for the first time.  Google maps still only has the stubs on each end.  That did make the GPS wig out a little less when I drove the stretch.  However, that stretch of road opened nearly five months ago!

Use OSM then. lol.  It's been in there almost since it was opened. ;)  But I do see Google's attempting to add it, but it looks horrible as of right now because they have a giant gap in it. :ded:

I thought the Pocahontas Parkway in Richmond was freeway grade...apparently Google doesn't think so...

And while I'm at it, the John Land Apopka Expressway is freeway grade-I rode on it three weeks ago-and IT'S not marked either!

At least they figured out that the Fort Bend Parkway in Houston is freeway grade-they finally marked it right...

Yeah, Google is pretty bad at not marking short freeways as such.

Not that OSM is any better when a local gets it in their mind that something isn't built well enough to be marked as a freeway and reverts attempts to correct it (see Seattle)...

Oh, I know the feeling.  I've been having fights with them over Business I-376.  They finally now have it as an expressway, but they forgot to leave a small section in yellow for the short at-grade section.

I've given up all hope on getting them to do that right. I can name a handful of incorrectly shown freeways here in Hampton Roads alone (e.g., 164, Suffolk Bypass).

They've put more in since I took that ride to Dickson on the 6th but, as you say, it still has a gap!

I'm seeing a new I-136 in Nebraska, Missouri, and Illinois today:
http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=39.88445,-94.130859&spn=6.372267,21.09375&z=7

Not completely, still named "U.S. 136" in Street View.

Got another one. This mountain road near Cuddebackville, NY becomes a freeway for a few bends:

Looks like Google fixed some of the problems here: US 527 through Central Jersey no longer exists, nor does the extremely long US 202/206 concurrency through Pennsylvania and Delaware. In addition, the random freeway just one post above is gone.

Unfortunately, I-136 is still listed in all its grade-unseparated glory.

Random limited access road line branching off of MA 146 south of Worcester:

Well, 146 ought to be a freeway, so they're still not perfect. They reconnected 138 to 79 in Fall River, though.

The A-30 section through St-Constant was finally added, 4 months after its scheduled opening and about as long after my bug report, HOWEVER:

  • The route appears in yellow, despite it being a full expressway. Same for the old alignment (A-730).
  • A-730 has its number on the route name labels, but no shield.
  • A-730 Exit 2 to Montée St-Régis is still marked as Exit 90
  • The Jean-Leman section (west of A-15) is incorrectly marked as 730. It should be 30 "Future 30", as it's not even open yet (thankfully it won't route you through it).
