I'd certainly mourn the ability to quickly skim new posts without affecting my read/unread stats; right now I do those in incognito, so I'd need a new "boredom check" site if we went that way (also a more efficient way to check, for when I want to check on threads I'm interested in more often than twice a day).

Is there a way to view all new posts since last visit?  With the theme down, the "new" indicators are not around, so checking the forum is very cumbersome, especially if I don't remember exactly when I was last on.

Would it be possible to restore the wiki.aaroads.com subname? While the server (separate from the rest of the site) has continued to run, the domain name isn't working so anyone who goes there just sees server not found.

Maybe we should let Alex work before worrying about this thing or that thing not being back online yet.

They're still there. They're just a lot harder to see because they're plain text links to the left of the main subject line. On the whole, though, TheHighwayMan3561 (who, to be sure, posted after you did) probably has the right idea.

I apologize for the sorry state that the Forum is in presently. It took from 5 AM to 6 PM yesterday to even get it to work on this VPS server. That said, I have restored the old files and the CSS templates are still not working with a number of queries still breaking. Barring hearing from James, who is vastly more familiar with SMF than I am, it may be awhile before I can figure out the rest of the debugging with A.I. to get it right.

I have a call back scheduled with support to restore the subdomain wiki.aaroads.com. That is associated with a different VPS server on my account, and when I had to remove the aaroads.com domain from the managed server I am canceling in order in order to move it to this VPS server, it disassociated all subdomains and email accounts as well. It is not readily apparent in my control panel how to associate a subdomain with a different server contract, so I'll get instruction on that later today.

Thank you for the update, Alex.  Don't forget what I said, though:  it's OK to take a break, even before everything is fixed.  The world will go on, and we'll all survive, if it takes an extra day or two for this, than it otherwise would, to all get resolved—and I'm sure we'd all prefer that you stay healthy and sane than have it back to normal as early as possible.

(Well, that was weird.  It just flipped during my edit.)

I think I fixed the remaining errors, and even default with a depreciated php function in the SMF source code! Please let me know what errors you encounter going forward and if any forum functionality is still broken.

hotdogPi

Somehow the "not following" button that I mentioned twice only existed without the CSS. Is there any way to add it as a button?

In-thread search is still broken.

Please don't apologize. I know we all probably don't say it often enough, but thank you for providing the forum. It's certainly not something you're obligated to do and you don't charge us to use it, so we certainly don't have standing to grumble if there's a technical issue or if your life takes precedence over forum maintenance.

Thank you for your efforts. I wish we had some warning beforehand. For a while, I thought I had something wrong at my end.

I just did a regular [Entire forum] search three times and got a "504 Gateway Time-out / nginx" error all three times.

I just looked this up with AI and part of it may be related to the forum@aaroads.com email not yet being restored.

QuoteYour cron.php might be sending emails or running database-heavy tasks, and if PHP-FPM's execution time limit

The error log is populated with 535 Authentication credentials invalid messages, which is because all of my email accounts with AARoads were removed when I had to disassociate the domain with the managed server in order to apply it to the VPS server. I plan on addressing that this afternoon with a scheduled support call I have.

Heh, there is no way he was as annoyed as I was as the webmaster with regards to trying to debug the various scripts with the site as pages continually timed out, did not loading properly, loaded as a blank page, etc.

No, they're BBCode formatting tags for 'teletype'.

For example, Scott used it in this post.  But now it doesn't seem to work.

But that might have been an earlier change unrelated to this recent business.

I see it as intended in Scott's post but not in yours (or mine if I hit preview).

It should be as easy as quoting an example from a non-locked thread to see what the tags look like.

The signature for user Sanctimoniously is a quote of that exact post by Scott.  Find literally any post by Sanctimoniously, and you'll see that I simply copy-and-pasted Scott's post, tags and all.
