How do I embed a poll in post?

I haven’t made a poll before, but I’ve read threads that include one at the top of the page. I see the links for “New Topic”  and “New Poll” , but I would like to create a new topic thread and then embed a poll within it, and I don’t know how I might go about doing that. Might anyone be able to help me with that? Thanks.

"New Poll" creates a thread with a poll.
On an existing thread that you've created without a poll, I believe there's an "Add Poll" button.
