Murder out the trusses.
Quote from: GaryV on Today at 08:01:18 AMIt's an issue if there's a blockage 1.5 miles into the couple of miles. And you can't get out.And with I-94 traffic to contend with.
Quote from: rhen_var on April 28, 2024, 10:32:10 PMIn that area of I-94 it most certainly is an issue.Quote from: vdeane on April 28, 2024, 09:34:15 PMIt's only a couple of miles though. Not really a big issue.Quote from: rhen_var on April 28, 2024, 04:02:28 PMI think that's actually pretty neat. It's funded by Cavenue, not taxes, and regular cars can still use the lane (except for dedicated testing times, which, as noted in the video, only happens when the loss of the third lane isn't an issue). It's also now a unique little stretch of freeway which is cool to see. It's still less versatile, though, since you can't just move into that lane to pass people. It's basically a separate one-lane carriageway, so you're stuck behind whoever the slowest driver in it is.
QuoteThe proposed project includes a range of roadway and intersection improvements involving Germantown Pike (G170) and Ridge Pike (SR 4031) corridors, designed as early actions in support of a future, separately programmed Second Bridge Crossing over the Perkiomen Creek project south of the existing bridge. See attached Project Location Map and Roadway Aerial Plan.
Proposed improvements include:
•Constructing a new Germantown Pike Connector Road between Germantown Pike (G170) and SR 4031 (Ridge Pike) approximately 1,300 feet east of the existing poorly skewed signalized intersection of those same roadways.
•Extending the new Germantown Pike Connector Road southwest of SR 4031 (Ridge Pike) to Pechins Mill Road (township).
•Providing a traffic signal at the new SR 4031 (Ridge Pike)/new Germantown Pike Connector Road intersection and eliminating the poorly skewed SR 4031 (Ridge Pike)/Germantown Pike (G170) signalized intersection and the adjacent stop sign controlled SR 4009 (River Road)/Germantown Pike (G170) intersection immediately east of the Perkiomen Creek bridge.
•Providing a roundabout at the northern end of the new Germantown Pike Connector Road.
•Extending SR 4009 (River Road) to the proposed roundabout.
•Widening of SR 4031 (Ridge Pike) to add shoulders and sidewalks between the Perkiomen Creek bridge and Crosskeys Road (township) and to provide turn lanes at the new SR 4031 (Ridge Pike)/new Germantown Pike Connector Road signalized intersection.
•Providing new storm drainage and storm water management facilities in the project area.
•Providing minor roadway improvements (shoulder reconstruction, guiderail, mill/overlay) to Pechins Mill Road (township)
•Providing a short length township roadway, with cul-de-sac, as 4th roundabout leg for several private driveway connections.◦Note - construction cost estimate increase since the original CEE preparation is attributable to additional work added and described in two prior bullets, plus new costs associated with: hazmat items not previously identified for lead in soil (gun club), earthwork items subsequently confirmed in final GER (benching, stone drainage for high groundwater and removal of unsuitable material), excavation for driveway and parking lot reconstruction; significant additional drainage item quantities, lighting items not accounted for originally, and general finalization of pavement, curb and sidewalk items.
•Demolishing three (3) structures impacted by proposed roadway widening (or new alignment) and storm water management facility. The demolitions will be completed as part of an early action construction project (separate MPMS 82115).
