Well, that was an interesting bit of nostalgia. The forum was only open for three days when this thread was started!
On the day that it was posted, Barack Obama was inaugurated for his first term as President.
And my wife backed my car up into my son's car across the street because of the ice in the driveway.
When my wife and I had our first baby, we moved to Wichita because that's where my parents were. We lived in their basement for the first year and half, till we got our own place. During that time, I parked down at the foot of the driveway. One day my dad backed out to go to work, misjudged the steering, and hit the front corner of our car. Even though we were separate families filing separate taxes and everything, the insurance company considered it to be no different than if he had hit my mom's car and refused to pay any damages. My dad had to pay for the body work out of pocket. (Then he told me to start parking on the street.)
I would have been in the same boat. But, my son's car was a beater with dents and scratches everywhere, what was another dent in the passenger door, lol.
That rear bumper on my Grand Marquis was real simple to fix, I pushed the dimple out from the inside and it just popped right back into shape, you couldn't even tell there had been contact.
Sad part was, my wife wasn't even trying to leave. She was re-positioning the car to park it in the garage so my son could park on the side part of the driveway and she just slid down the whole driveway, across the street and into his car.
It was funny because I was inside watching the inauguration on TV and right at the moment Obama was repeating the "I solemnly swear" part of the oath the front door flew open and my wife was cussing like a damn sailor. I was like "I somehow don't think that's what he meant by swear" which caused her go go off even more. It took me a couple of minutes to understand what she was so upset about.
