Title: Diverging Diamonds May Come To Georgia
Post by: georgiaroadgeek on February 15, 2010, 02:53:15 PM
According to the following Atlanta Journal-Constitution article, diverging diamond interchanges could be in the future for the I-85 interchanges at Jimmy Carter Boulevard (GA 140) and Pleasant Hill Road.

Are there any preliminary results yet from the DDI in Springfield, MO? It's quite an unconventional design, especially from the average Joe SUV point-of-view, I'm not sure if it's a good idea to implement it on such a high-profile interchange like Jimmy Carter Boulevard without thorough testing.

^^

That's a fair point. Folks do get confused at the drop of a hat... mainly because a lot of folks aren't paying attention to what they should be worried about when driving: driving. I think that if the signage and lane markings are up to snuff, the proposed interchange should be okay.
