Quote from: ClassicHasClass on November 12, 2024, 08:39:32 PMWhy does the END ID 52 have an arrow? Is the END where it's pointing?

ID 52 here is about to cross the Snake River into Oregon. So I guess because ID 52 technically ends in the middle of the bridge, they felt the need to indicate the actual end was still ahead?

The route carries on as OR 52 across the bridge, but that ends just 1.6 miles later at its junction with OR 201. I posted that END sign back in the Oregon bunch.

A near double end of the same route number in two states. Can't be too many like that?

There used to be a nearly identical situation just down the road at Weiser, where a spur of US 95 goes through downtown and crosses into Oregon.  As US 95 Spur approached the Snake River in Idaho, there was posted this END sign . . .

. . . erroneously, since immediately after the crossing you can see that US 95 Spur continued into Oregon . . .

. . . only to end 2 miles later, also at OR 201.

However, the END sign in Idaho was subsequently removed and replaced with a shield assembly that correctly shows Spur 95 continuing ahead.

Here are a few scattered END signs from across the map:

CO 194's western endpoint in North La Junta at CO 109; CO 347's northern terminus entering Black Canyon of the Gunnison Natl Park.

NV 140's eastern end on US 95 north of Winnemucca; NV 360's southern end west of Tonopah.

US 62's eastern terminus in Niagara Falls, circa 2006; ME 100's eastern end in Bangor, also 2006.

That "ends in nowhere" CA 178 sign is one of my favourites.

Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

Here are some US Highway ENDS I had lurking on my computer:

US 6 in Bishop, CA;   US 64 in Teec Nos Pos, AZ:

US 91 near Idaho Falls, ID;   the other US SPUR 95 in Idaho, this one in Payette, ID.

Both ends of US 163: the north terminus near Bluff, UT;   the south end in Keyenta, AZ.

An erroneous END US 189 that was formerly posted at its junction with US 40 in Heber City, UT (now gone);   US 191's southern end in Douglas, AZ.

US 202 in Bangor, ME;   US 211 in Warrenton, VA.

US 350's west end near Trinidad, CO.

Earlier and later shots of US 491's north end in Monticello, UT, neither current.

This one's probably in here a bunch of times already, but it's my favorite love-to-hate end sign:

A new End.  With the opening of the Olancha-Cartago Bypass on US 395, the eastern portion of CA 190 has been extended over part of the old alignment of US 395 to end at the bypass.

Nice. I don't remember an END at the old terminus, probably because of the unconstructed portion.
