The local college radio station is doing their fall pledge drive. Part of their messaging notes that it takes $5,770 a week to operate the station. Which is a pretty big chunk of change, but it's not exactly as much as I thought it would be to operate a radio station.

"That sounded stupid, didn't it?"

I'm guessing that the cut-off word is "cumin?"

That's my assumption. Doesn't change the amusing nature of the wrapper from a puerile viewpoint.

'There's nothing I can do': Entitled customer demands employee personally deliver her groceries, employee refuses, leading to a dispute at the grocery store
FULL ARTICLE HERE

I'm reading this article, and I'm going WTF... why isn't this elderly customer's daughter checking up and doing the groceries, not to mention periodically checking up on her mother? This is the entire reason why I'm WFGing.

I consider it a source of humor, and nothing more. Occasionally a source of a "shake head" syndrome.

It's worse than that, they made an entire "article" out of someone else's Reddit post (which is also an unreliable source).

"Made up story".

And while it could be real, like most journalism stories much of what's written really isn't relevant.  If the store doesn't do deliveries anymore, why do we care that she's 1 of 2 employees over 18 and is a shift supervisor?  It doesn't have anything to do with the main story.

Daughter might have been out of town?  Daughter may not live in town?  Daughter may have been ill?  Elderly person may have exaggerated on being without milk for 3 days?  Daughter puts up with her mom's bullshit and knew she would be fine for a few days without milk?

Calling "Cheezburger" or "Reddit" a journalistic source is a stretch that would break any rubber band. We cannot fact check the story, nor would it be worth the effort.

I miss when that site posted funny cat pictures instead of reposting whatever random crap they can run ads next to, but that was over a decade ago. In hindsight they were probably reposting the cat pictures too.

I was looking for evidence of the New York Central Railroad car floats at the Metro-North Railroad Highland Facility via Historic Aerials, and while I didn't find any, the 1966 photo shows a pair of huge trash piles in the Harlem River.

I'm actually glad I can't say you could walk across the pile from Harlem to Highbridge. Even if you could, why would you risk injuring yourself with all the crap hidden in that pile?

I just spent five minutes detailing the four (possibly five) continuities of the Halloween movie franchise.  My "four theory" is contingent upon the Thorn Cult of Halloween 6 being somehow connected to Silver Shamrock Corporation of Halloween 3.  The original Halloween being on TV in 3 probably is the biggest argument that it really is a true standalone continuity.

Rothman

I haven't seen any of the Halloween movies (Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Scream...all yes).

I have seen all 38 Godzilla movies.

Max Rockatansky

I haven't seen the last handful of Godzilla movies.  I'll probably get around to them eventually.  Final Wars is kind of the line where Toho started to steer things back in a more serious direction.  The Brian Cranston Godzilla was okay I suppose.
