As far as I can tell, the rules don't prohibit re-using a sign for a different city.

Dettah ---> Halifax. You can pick either Halifax, too (both the same city, of course).

Anyone have pictures of China?  According to Weather Underground, that's where the VAST majority of cities starting with X are.

IMO. so long as we can find a photo for Xenia OH that hasn't been used, or another community name beginning with "X", to continue the chain. The X ending letter is more of an issue than the recycled photo.

Especially with Mapmikey's threat to inflict Appomattox on us (and there are probably other _____x names in his inventory too), it would be good to find alternatives to Xenia. The Wikipedia article on Xenia (which I looked at for the F5 tornado that pretty much trashed the city in 1974) says that Xenia is the largest U.S. place with a name beginning with "X", suggesting there are others. "Xavier" might be a good place to start.

Xalapa is the town name. It's in Mexico. There are no other town names on this sign; you have to begin the next one with A. (For those curious, the number being blocked by the pole in the phone number is a 2.)

If no one has an 'X' city, could we make an exception to post a city with 'X' somewhere in the name? Like Phoenix or Alexandria?

Muchas gracias, 1.

We're also having trouble getting city names ending in "B" or "V" to put those letters into play. Alas, the logical places to look for such names, the signs are probably in Cyrillic. I don't think a name ending in "C" has been posted, even though they are fairly abundant on this side of the pond (lots of _____-Lac towns and a few Ste-Jean-d'Arcs in Quebec, even some in the U.S.).

I feel that if a sign is in Cyrillic characters, the person posting it should offer the transliteration and we then proceed with that.

BTW, regarding "X," there's a town in Mozambique named Xai-Xai, though I doubt anyone has a photo.

V is trickier, but there's always De Kalb for B. Or Zagreb, maybe. The nice thing about the US is there's plenty of places named after places in other countries, so you get more linguistic diversity in toponyms. Hell, we had an Aleppo posted upthread.

For C, there's also Bois d'Arc, MO, but that pre-supposes a B being posted and someone with a photo of it posting it before someone else does something less uncommon like Boston or whatever.
