I don't think that was a valid sequence of photos.

"Nightingale Hot Springs" is a place (maybe a ghost town, an industrial plant along the Interstate seems to now be using up all the hot water, though at least one hot springer says he soaked there before it was closed to the public). So corco put Salt Lake City in play, and in turn Ian played Yarmouth.

^ Thanks for clarifying oscar. I'll do Yarmouth to Huntsville, ON (on Hwy 11)

Ahhhh, thank you for clarifying. I thought that sign was listing two separate places (understandable mistake, I think....sort of the reverse of how someone unfamiliar with the DC area might misread the sign on the Beltway that lists Washington and National Harbor as referring to "Washington National Harbor").

Or along US 26 in Oregon, as posted twice above (once by me):

I assume that's Iowa (looked the town name and that was the first state that came up).

Are they totally abandoning Clearview now?  Or is that just a fluke?

It is Iowa, yes, and since the interim approval of Clearview was revoked, Iowa DOT has gone back to using the FHWA series fonts. However, I believe this panel is older than the point at which they started using Clearview, since the square behind the county route marker is white, not yellow.

Edit: Here's an example of a new FHWA-series panel with the yellow square instead. Although I just noticed that the Exit tab uses Clearview :-D

The reason I thought your first sign was newer was the tab width looks like it's a later revision of the MUTCD.  Looks like a Georgia tab on an Iowa exit sign.

Not sure where anyone's getting "Yarmouth" from, but it's fine, Huntsville works via the Y rule (Tonopah).

Unfortunately I'm out of E's again, short of playing another Ellijay sign.

Yeah, I was first confused as well, so I thought I was in the wrong in posting the Yarmouth photo.

Amidst all the confusion, it's been more than 15 hours since 7/8 played Huntsville, which is the last placename played. (As Eth helpfully points out, Huntsville is valid in response to either Yarmouth in Ian's deleted post, or Tonopah in corco's preceding post.) ___e has only occasionally stalled this thread, hope someone can play an E___ to get us back on track.

I am confident we have not yet seen East Cobleskill in this thread.  From New York 145.  February 21, 2009.

"Melita" is my late mother's first name. That gave me a good response, at the border crossing south of Melita, Manitoba, to the "why are you re-entering the U.S. here, out in the middle of nowhere?" question. (The other reason I didn't mention was to clinch the north end of US 83, and the south end of MB 83.)

East Haddam => Melita (MB):

Interesting that most of the characters have black outlines. I don't think I've seen that for lettering before.

Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.
