No, that's Rocky Mount, VA.

I first thought this was a huge error, and that it was supposed to be I-40. Then I looked up where I-40 and US 29 meet. They wouldn't use Gretna or Rocky Mount as a control city there. Then I found Rocky Mount. Nowhere near US 29. I realized that Rocky Mount, NC didn't even have I-40 (or NC 40). I looked on Wikipedia for Gretna, NC. It does not exist. I finally figured out that it was for Virginia.

I knew it was VA, but still wrote NC by mistake. Sorry!

Re: The Rocky Mount sign.

There's a "To I-40 xx Miles" sign on southbound US 220 at the VA 40 Rocky Mount exit. Or at least there used to be. I thought it was funny that anyone would get VA 40 and I-40 confused.

Re: The VA 86 sign.

Is that Chapel Hill for the one in North Carolina, or is there a Chapel Hill, Va.? I never heard of the latter, and thought it funny that to get from Virginia to the former, you'd have to go through a bunch of other towns and cities first.

Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

OracleUsr

It's Chapel Hill, NC.  VA 86 becomes NC 86, whose southern terminus is Chapel Hill.
