It was quite :) We were coming off a (by our standards) pretty nasty ice event a couple days earlier.

I love that picture of the Wilbur Cross! That hill is fun to drive down and in the winter you can see New Haven popping up over the trees to the right.

I don't know why I didn't see this thread sooner. There's some amazing photos on the last ten pages.

The pictures I like the most are those where you can see miles ahead. This example shows I-15 from Nipton Road, CA looking towards the small town of Primm, NV which is ten miles in the distance.

Thanks for posting the completed version of the tunnel at Limekiln State Park in Big Sur. I've not been back that way since 2009, and I'm glad to see it's now done. I believe this tunnel is intended to reduce rock fall potential above the highway. It is debatable as to whether CA 1 north of the split just north of Gaviota is considered Pacific Coast Highway or Cabrillo Highway; there are legislative definitions for each in the Streets and Highways Code:

http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/displaycode?section=shc&group=00001-01000&file=300-635

Quote635.  (a) State Highway Route 1 from Las Cruces to San Francisco
shall be known and designated as the "Cabrillo Highway."
   (b) State highway routes embracing portions of Routes 280, 82,
238, 101, 5, 72, 12, 37, 121, 87, 162, 185, 92, and 123 and
connecting city streets and county roads thereto, and extending in a
continuous route from Sonoma southerly to the international border
and near the route historically known as El Camino Real shall be
known and designated as "El Camino Real."
   (c) State Highway Route 1 from south of San Juan Capistrano to
near El Rio shall be known and designated as the "Pacific Coast
Highway."

Nowhere near as good a pic as the rest of yours, but still one of my favorite views. Interstate 40 in western NC has some of the prettiest scenery that can be viewed from an Interstate anywhere in the country, especially the eastern US. This picture was snapped by my wife on I-40 westbound near the Mcdowell County rest area (mile marker 82) a few years ago:

Shouldn't the divided highway ahead sign in the median be a keep right sign?

You know, I've been looking at Google street view of that exact same spot multiple times over the last several weeks (planning next month's Mexico trip, which will use US-277 from the OK line to Del Rio), and I had not noticed that glaring signage goof.

Here are my best road pictures from late-September 2012. In Memphis, I saw a knocked-down street light on Interstate 55 and Crump Boulevard:
