Meridian (Observations/Help Needed)

(1/1)

Bryant5493:
My family and I were driving through Meridian and its suburbs today. It seems like the southern portion of the S.R. 19 widening is coming along well. The northern portion still needs some work. I noticed that there looked like some right-of-way had been cleared away on S.R. 19, closer to the Meridian corporate limits. Also, it seems like MDOT is building a bridge over I-20/59, east of Downtown Meridian, but west of the U.S. 45 freeway.

I was thinking that this may be some type of bypass. I've done some minimal research on the internet about it, but haven't found much. Any help would be gladly appreciated.

I just passed through there on Saturday night and was wondering what was being constructed between MS 19 and U.S. 45. It was dark so I couldn't see too much, and I forgot to do any research once I got home. I would like to know what it was as well.

flaroads:
I found out what the bridge construction is for along that section of Interstate 20/59. It is a new interchange with Hawkin's Crossing Road that will serve the Meridian/Lauderdale County Industrial Park. Here is a link to the article that mentions it (its at the end of the article):

Hope this helps!

Beat me to it.  No need for another bypass on that side because that's what US 45 is.  They've been trying to get that interchange since I was stationed in Meridian and they finally got it this year as a stimulus project.

Thanks, y'all, that answers my inquiries.

Be well,

Bryant
