I thought this thread was for camera errors, while the other thread was for unusual sights on the road; they were not the same thing.

this thread could very well be used to discuss camera errors.

I agree that unusual sightings belong only in the other thread.  However, any posts from this one could very well fit in the other thread.

So I suggest a merge.

That's fair enough. At this point, I'm fine with anything as long as this individual thread ceases to exist because I look like an idiot now...
I love my 2010 Ford Explorer.

A user submitted photo that's on GSV on the closed portion of Chain of Craters Rd on the big Island of Hawaii. Spin the view around and you'll see more of this person! https://goo.gl/maps/PbK6biaUVau

Side note: I was here last in about 2006; the first time being in 2000.  The lava flow pictured above had flowed in this area between those two visits.  The 'road' shown in the image above must've been created after that, as I don't recall it being graded at the time.

Just found this truck roll-over from July 2013.

I found because I had dropped the pegman a little bit to the north and wondered why a semi-trailer was driving on a bumpy dirt road next to the highway.

One winter a fatal crossover accident closed 295 North. Traffic was directed far into the grassy median, which was basically frozen and thus could easily handle the traffic without rutting.

That's only an Interstate if your username is TheAlan360 or FritzOwl.

Oops. I figured San Luis Potosi was the name of the town, or something. It looks very much like a typical Southwestern interstate until you pan up- or down-stream a ways.

Not crazy, but one can figure the Google car, including the camera mast, is shorter than 11 ft 8 in because it fits below the Norfolk Southern/Gregson St overpass :sombrero:.

One can also see the camera locations, here and here.

I just noticed my house - the empty trash barrel is out front.  Must have been a Friday.

I found me driving.  Had a feeling I might be in there when I saw the Google car drive across the intersection about 50 yards in front of me.  Sure enough, when I panned to the cross street when viewing the street it was on, there I am.

While searching for targets for my great American Street View trip (So far it will include the 11 foot 8 Bridge and I-366 with an speed limit of 85, and it may launch from Hamlin, Maine), I came across this. Isn't that "JUST Married!" blocking the rear view? Although if both wing mirrors are present then that is a moot point.

This is a very, very common practice here in the USA.  Pretty much everybody who gets married ends up with decorations on their car like that.  It's usually something done by the groomsmen.

Recently, I did some NYC Ferry research with GSV, and west of the India Street Ferry Pier in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, I saw something sunk beneath the East River.

https://www.google.com/maps/place/40°43'54.0%22N+73°57'48.7%22W/@40.7316508,-73.9631579,355m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x0!8m2!3d40.731667!4d-73.963528?hl=en

Was it a boat? A ship? A barge? An old Dock? Anything I should've been familiar with when I still lived in the Tri-State Area?

url fix --sso
Looks like it's the ferry to me.
Hmm. I took a closer look, and I see a crane on the thing too.

It still looks like it's underwater.

Right, that's the erasure. Look for cars on the roads–they look similarly underwater (or underasphalt).
I just found out what it really was by going a block north.

It's a sunken dock that you can see from Huron Street.

So, that problem is solved.

I think the URL being fixed is what solved it–that doesn't look to me like what I was originally looking at. (I can't find what that is at the moment, but I wouldn't have confused an erased ferry from the actual sunken structure we can now see.)

The Newtown bypass, which opened yesterday and isn't even on the map yet. Whole thing, and the surrounding/bypassed roads has streetview imagery done by an individual.
