WISDOT encouraging County Highway Departments to install rumble strips?

WISDOT is now installing centerline and shoulder rumble strips on most new resurfacing projects.  I was driving down recently resurfaced Brown County R between Bellevue and Denmark, and noticed that centerline and shoulder rumble strips were installed.  Has anyone else seen that treatment applied to county roads in the state and is the state encouraging counties to apply this treatment to their roads?

I think rumble strips are a good thing. They're a way of keeping drivers from veering off the road, especially at night.

Agreed. It also is especially good for high-speed roads with a depressed grass median and no cable barrier since rumble strips will function as the first warning to prevent a cross-over collision. It is much better than no rumble strip giving much less warning.

They have just started doing this here on Route 56 Butterfield Rd west of Route 59 to Kirk Rd.

They've added them on the rebuilt section of US-2 east of Superior, and some property owner has posted a sign that says "WISDOT Sucks. Rumble strips even more."
