I realized there isn't a thread for this, so let's see how many consecutive distances we can find posted on signs.

Rules:

1. A valid picture is one picture showing a roadsign with one or more distances. Elegible signs are distance signs, distance markers, mileage/kilometer markers... Any signs posting a distance are valid, the only requirement is that they must be roadsigns or milestones showing road distances.

2. Each person will post one contestant photo at a time.

3. In order to avoid conversions between distance units, the order wont be the actual distance, but the number. Because of that; it's possible to post, for example, a picture with a sign marking 3 kilometers (1,86411 miles) after one marking 2 miles (3,21869 km). In other words, you can use any unit you want as long as it's the next number.

4. Decimals and fractions are allowed, and count as actual numbers. So, for example, 0,5 miles (or 1/2 miles, it's the same) can be posted after 0 and before 1.

5. If a sign posts more than one distance, only one will be counted.

6.  When you post a valid sign, you must wait at least 5 more valid pictures before you can post another one.

7. You must credit the author or source of the picture posted if necessary.

8. Google Street View is allowed. You can use links or screenshots, though we prefer the later.

9. If you have a photo taken by yourself in the wild or your photo depicts a rare and historical roadsign or milestone, you can override other pictures. If you override using the second option, it's better to explain why it's historical or rare to justify it and, also, we will learn a bit of road history!

10. As long as the game continues, you're free to talk about stuff you want.

11. If nobody posts a pic in 48 hours, you can ignore the 5 post waiting rule.

After a difficult decision (using this 0 milestone or the very first one, the Miliarium Aureum), I will start with the Kilómetro Cero located in the Puerta del Sol of Madrid since 1950, as part of the Plan Peña. All the distances in the Spanish radial national roads (from N-I to N-VI) are counted from here and has become over time a historical landmark. Picture from Wikipedia user Kaetzar.

Feel free to override me with more historical or singular 0 markers, there are a lot!

I have some questions about the rules.

1. You said that decimals and fractions are allowed. How does this work if we're just doing the next number? Ignore the fractional part?

2. Is an advertising sign saying "McDonald's 300 feet, next right" allowed for 300, or do signs put up by businesses not count?

3. Is there a 24-hour or 48-hour rule?

Top image: Incorrect, as the two destinations are not at the same exit.
Bottom image: Correct, and it has a 2 on it.

I find GSV links unwieldy, especially on mobile. So I'd offer a preference for screen caps if GSV is allowed.

We're going to get pretty far. Probably not to 1000, but pretty far.

NY 31B hasn't existed since January 2nd 1980, and I took this picture on November 27th 2007 (thanks EXIF data!).  That means this sign was at least 27 years old when I took the picture. The 7 on the bottom line means that it's .7 miles from the western end, so does this count as an override?

I have some questions about the rules.

1. You said that decimals and fractions are allowed. How does this work if we're just doing the next number? Ignore the fractional part?

2. Is an advertising sign saying "McDonald's 300 feet, next right" allowed for 300, or do signs put up by businesses not count?

3. Is there a 24-hour or 48-hour rule?

1. As fractions and decimal numbers are the same (0.5=1/2), they count as regular numbers. Because of that, if you have a sign telling a direction at 6.5 or 13/2 miles, you can always put it after one showing 6 miles or 6 kilometers; even being a 13 the non-fractional part, because 13/2 is actually 6.5.

2. Only roadsigns or milestones are allowed, not advertising signs. That doesn't mean signs with company logos and that stuff aren't allowed, simply they need to be actual roadsigns placed by the highway department, like for example, the ones telling you which restaurants or gas stations you can find in the next service area.

3. At the moment, there isn't; but I will add it just in case.

I will modify the rules to explain the more confusing points and add that preference.

If I got it right, it would be added after the 0, because it's actually 0.7. Anyway, interesting story, thanks for telling it!

Let's see who comes with the 10...
