Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, so it means a new iteration of one of the few remaining annual threads has to be created. Title says all, who is working on Thanksgiving? Of course, all the emergency dispatchers, those working in restaurants, casinos, stadia where games are scheduled (given below), Big Rig Steve, and anyone outside of the USA, where the 4th Thursday in November is just a regular day.

The sports schedule for Thanksgiving (times are Eastern and 24 hour, I may miss something):
12:30 p.m.: Bears at Lions (NFL)
4:30 p.m.: Bills at Cowboys (NFL)
8:30 p.m.: Saints at Falcons (NFL)

Previous iterations of this thread: VI, V, IV, III, II, I

I get Thursday and Friday off, although only Thursday is a company holiday.  I'm using PTO for Friday at my supervisor / HR director's request.

Also, I neither have live TV service nor care about football.
Keep right except to pass.  Yes.  You.

Still got my impressive streak of not working on Thanksgiving going.  Can't remember the last time I worked the day after Thanksgiving, but it had to be at least 17 years ago.

Not working. My office is technically open Friday, but almost nobody will be here.

That used to be true of me, too. In fact, normally I don't care about any sport whatsoever, but this year I have become weirdly obsessed with the NFL. I think 538.com's NFL Forecasting Game is at least partly responsible!

I have not had much experience, but this will be my 3rd year of taking off Thanksgiving and working Black Friday.

As per last year, now that I'm on salary, I don't receive extra pay for a paid holiday. Instead, I receive an extra day off. Technically, I can take the extra day up to two weeks before or two weeks after the holiday, but I'm taking Thanksgiving off. I worked an extra day last week, so I'm taking Friday off without using PTO. This nasty snowstorm that came through on Wednesday means I am using a sick day because I heeded the travel warnings and stayed home. In short, five-day weekend!

This is my first Texas Thanksgiving, so I'm taking Thursday and Saturday off. I am scheduled to work in Friday afternoon and Sunday morning.... from home.

A couple years back we had fried chicken and bunch of other southern style food at my Mom's house in Florida, it actually was best Thanksgiving Meal I've ever had.

I always liked the fact that while the Detroit Lions were playing at Ford Field in Downtown Detroit on Turkey Day,  just a few miles er kilometers away, it's just a normal work week for the Canadians across the river.

As of the time of this post, I have not been called upon to perform any work-related duties today.

I'm also off tomorrow, but since I'm on call 24/7/365, it remains to be seen if I will have to go on the clock at any time then.

(Of course, I could still be called upon to perform work functions between now and midnight.)

Yeah, it was really weird to see Google Maps live traffic around 4-5PM yesterday.
Basically no congestion whatsoever on the US side - not even in NYC! - but all the typical traffic jams in Toronto, Montreal, etc.

I know many who work in the medical sector on Hollidays, and they are compensated with 1.5x pay for that day. The healthcare sector cannot shutdown for a holliday, especially when people are clogging their arteries and getting trampled while shopping.
Is anyone Black Friday shopping? I've been in line for ten minutes at best buy to pick up a 1000 dollar camera that is 40% off.

I have never worked on Thanksgiving Day. This year is noteworthy though as being the first year since 2010 that I had Black Friday off from work as a standard holiday - a consequence of change in employer.

The odd thing is? I had nothing to do on Friday and was generally bored. Almost would rather have been working.
If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

This was my first Black Friday off in probably close to 15 years. My former boss always used the excuse that she cooks Thanksgiving dinner so she needs the day off to clean. Not that I minded coming in on Black Friday...it was usually a quiet day and we got out early. But she wasn't very accommodating to rotate the day off amongst her staff.

She also used this excuse for every holiday...as if she's the only one in the 60+ person office to cook for a holiday.

She's retired now. I took the day mostly because I could. But I would've been just fine working it as well.

As it happens, I'm worked a portion of the weekend anyway for NJDOT Sunday.

Did not work Thanksgiving and took Black Friday off. Kinda don't understand why my company doesn't shut down for the day considering 90% of our industry shuts down for the holiday.
The local weatherman, trust me I can be 99.9% right!
