IH-35E, design-build project from IH-635 to Bush Turnpike
« on: July 29, 2021, 08:31:19 PM »

The winning proposer was announced at today's TxDOT meeting. This project will expand frontage roads, add one lane in each direction (for a total of 8), and retain the existing two managed lanes with enough pavement to add two more managed lanes.

Proposals submitted
Archer Western and Sundt
Lone Star Contractors (Flour, Austin Bridge and Road)
North Tarrant Infrastructure 35E (Ferrovial Agroman and DBW/Webber)

Winner
Lone Star Constructors
Construction: $642 million
Maintenance: $13.3 million
Total: $655 million

This project was listed at $700, so the winning price appears to be around 6% below budget.

As usual with design-build awards, no other information is available.

Article on this from CE:

For some reason I was under the impression that the end result of phase two would result in 8 GP lanes and four tolled. Any word on when the additional tolled lanes will begin? I also hope this will result in 12ft lanes instead of 11ft.
