I dunno. I remember posting a comment this morning about betting money on it being locked (ironically...), but I dunno what happened after that as I went to bed after posting. That's what I get for working third shift, I guess.

I'm willing to bet that my goat video was a large contributor to the thread's deletion. 


NOTE: I'm being half sarcastic here, as I know that that one post of mine wouldn't have had such a large impact on the thread, because there were a lot of other people also talking about goats and making references to Alanland towards the end of the thread.

Threads have been outright deleted before. Usually they're parodies of other threads and last no more than a few hours (although "threads that have appeared at least once on aaroads" lasted days or possibly weeks before being deleted).

I guess locking it would have been so ironic and wreaked so much havoc around the forum, that deleting it was a much simpler (though more deceptive) option. Perhaps there was an internal argument, too, or perhaps the mods are sick of hearing complaints about every thread lock. Either way, it was a smart move (in the sense that I feel a bit exploited).

My post count went down too. It is one of the only threads I remember being deleted.

It should be noted that it's rare that anything is deleted permanently; most of the time, things that go "missing" have just been set so that only moderators can view them.

That being said, it's that time for this thread. We don't really need a thread listing all of the closed threads, and everything else in here is mostly silly.
