Title: Presidential Inauguration Parking Signs
Post by: Molandfreak on August 24, 2013, 07:09:59 PM
Was this a one-off sign in 1969, or did they use this U.S. route outline sign for other presidential inaugurations?

It was not used for the inaugurations while I was working in downtown D.C. (from 1985 onward).

Nowadays they just cordon off all of downtown. No vehicles allowed in or out.

I have a sign on my wall for the inauguration of 1965. I've seen online auction sites with ones for 1961, 1965, 1969, and 1973. These are all metal, similar in appearance to the one photographed. I have yet to see any from before 1961 or after 1973.

Ones used to restrict parking and direct tourists for this year's inauguration are heavy cardboard or plastic and can be found online selling from $100-$200.
