80 mph.
That's correct, a recently widened portion of SH-130 outside of Austin.

The work zone speed limit at the time of the Google Street View was 70 mph, but the regular posted speed limit is 80 mph.

Kinda figured, especially since that section of road has been super busy with only two lanes each way when I was through there back in October 2018. Glad that they widened to three lanes each way through there!

Agreed, I've gotten caught in congestion there a couple times - now granted way more tolerable than I-35 would've been had I stayed on there.

The project covers around 20 miles between SH-71 and SH-45 North, which is easily the busiest portion. The rest should be sufficient with only 4 lanes, though I could see an eventually need to keep going north all the way back to I-35 in the future.

Interestingly, there are some small segments that already have 3 lanes each way, instead of merely tying them in, they are still widening through those areas so those will be 4 each way now. Smart move, IMO.

I wonder how many 6-lane 80 mph segments there are in the US. There can't be that many, right?

The recently widened I-44 Turner Turnpike west of Tulsa, OK was increased to 80 mph IIRC.

And interestingly enough, some of those SH-130 segments will have up to 4 lanes in each direction, plus auxiliary lanes in some places.

Great Lakes Roads, remember to post a photo by this evening.

Assuming this is somewhere that uses km/h (China, maybe, or Singapore?)...100 km/h?

I am guessing 40 km/h because the absurdity of Chinese speed limits.

60 km/h
Yes
It's part of Fuzhou's second ring road, which is a freeway on part of it. Normally, Chinese freeways are signed at least 80 km/h in urban areas, but this one is an exception, without any 80 km/h segments, and just 60 km/h (like the pic above) or 70 km/h in other sections.

37 mph is absurdly low for a freeway.

I checked like 3 times to see that I'm not mistaking it for the frontage road's speed (as 60 km/h on the frontage road and 80 km/h on the freeway makes sense), and that the actual freeway's speed limit is higher. 60 km/h is actually the freeway's speed limit. The frontage road is signed at 30 km/h...

I-490 is 40 mph, would you also say that is absurdly low? It was lowered because of the high rate of trucks tipping over on the curved section just east of the street view.

Interesting that the speed limit was lowered for the curve, instead of placing an advisory speed. The most well-known example to me for a tight curve is I-90 in Cleveland just east of downtown, with a 35 mph advisory speed and multiple large warning signs, though the actual speed limit stayed at 50 mph.

Technically, there is an advisory speed, it just happens to be 40 mph, same as the actual limit. The distinction I'd make (also being familiar with I-90 in Cleveland) is that this is more a series of curves. Something about the geometry of this one in particular is kind of tricky to navigate while staying in your lane. I've driven it more times that I can count, and still often feel like I'm overcorrecting/drifting into the next lane over. All the more so in a truck than a regular car, and all the more so at 5PM when heavy commuter traffic is merging in on both sides at once.

sprjus4

In Michigan, that would be 70 mph with an advisory speed. :bigass:

I believe a few Japanese expressways also have 60 km/h limits in sections in the middle of the cities with tight turns and whatnot
