At those prices, I may be wanting to wait until the novelty has worn off to see a game there. If the A's are trash again this year, tickets for a night game late in the season may be cheap. I'd likely spend the night regardless because of the early meet start time, but that just means I use the Friday evening to finish clinching the light rail system.

I'm definitely a no-go for the baseball game, but up to "likely" for the meet. I had considered going to an antitrust lawyer meet in D.C. the week before to say hi to my former Federal agency colleagues. But the ongoing chaos in the Federal workplace might spread to my old agency, and dampen the turnout for anyone who hasn't pulled the ripcord already.

What's the likelihood that I-80 through the mountains east of Sacto will be closed by snowstorms, complicating my drive back home for Easter? I couldn't find the page I've seen on the Caltrans website, about when the snow threat in the mountains usually ends.

If I get there soon enough, I might clinch the light rail system. I spent a summer working in Sacto, but pre-light rail.

April is a giant question mark, probably the most uncertain month of the spring when it comes to Sierra weather. Could be fine, could be feet of snow. I had snow over Donner Pass the day after the Bakersfield meet.

The good news is that CA 70 has been reliable so far this winter (knock on wood), so that's always an option if there's snow.

Rothman, your link leads me to info for a ski resort in Spain.

Using that same site, their information for Boreal is a good proxy for conditions over Donner Summit on I-80 (the Boreal base is right next to the freeway):

Extended closures of I-80 are getting unlikely by mid-April, but if there's a storm, sometimes that leads to enough wrecks that the freeway will be closed for a few hours while Tow Truck Army heads up the hill to clean up the mess.

I forget, did the storm hit the Bakersfield Meet cause snow on I-80?  I know it wasn't snowing in Tehachapi during that meet.

I got snowed on in Tehachapi town 20 or so minutes after the meet ended. But yeah, that storm caused snow along 80.

As much as I enjoyed continuing my trend of being the CA meet attendee from the farthest away the last couple years, I'm unfortunately out this year due to it overlapping the start of Passover.

I've been keeping this on my radar, but I want to be able to drive the mountain passes that are all still closed on April 12. (Waiting to see what's going on with Yosemite for 2025 also...) So I'll have to make my way out there later in the year.

How long would it take to clinch that?

I have never ridden light rail, so I would be interested in checking out a theoretical light-rail-focused add-on to the meet if that's something that would be plausible and something people would be interested in doing. I have no frame of reference for the amount of time that would take, though.

We ought to be done early enough on Saturday for people to go see stuff like this.

The Green Line doesn't run on weekends. Part of it north of downtown Sacto doesn't overlap with the Blue and Orange lines, which do have weekend service.

I am leaning towards maybe, depending on how my plans shake out. Would not be going to the baseball game, however.

And they have been doing weekend Blue Line shutdowns north of downtown to upgrade platforms, so don't rely on it being open.

I won't be at the game, but look forward to the other activities.

Also: I'm planning to bring along some old oil company maps I haven't looked at in years. You see something you like (and there's no contention for it), you can take it home.

Fair chance I'll be buying tickets on Sunday.  That being the case, I just wanted to run another round on confirming how many people are going to the game.  This is what I have:

Going to the game:

-  Me
-  My wife
-  Rothman
-  SSOWorld
-  Duke87
-  Duke87's Dad

Not going to the game but going to the Meet

-  kurimi
-  cl94

Maybe for the Meet

-  Bruce
-  Oscar
-  Scott5114

How much are tickets?  I'm up for going if others are still going to bite the bullet for it, but it seemed the price was something of an issue for others.

$155 something when I last ran it.  My wife and I will be double checking prices likely tomorrow or Friday.  Duke87 and I talked offline about this, we are fully committed of going to the game no matter what.

Six it is then.  I will confirm once we have the tickets bought.

Ordered six tickets, got a slight discount for a bulk order and a cheaper section opened up on the Third base line.  I sent the applicable people messages on Facebook a couple minutes ago.

Clearly I need to check the Road Meets board more often, as I had completely overlooked this meet next month...

I should be able to hop over from Reno for the meet, so put me as a 'likely'...I should have that confirmed within the next week. But I won't be joining for the baseball game (clearly, since tickets were purchased already, but that's not really my thing anyway).
