Here is my pic for today.  Tomorrow I will have some Disney World photos of their interesting way of signing their roadway's.

Today's updated photo is another Disney sign on Osceola Parkway at its interchange with World Drive directing motorists to US 192 via SB World Drive and all other highways (including I-4) straight through on EB Osceola Parkway.

Today's update is a photo taken on World Drive leaving Disney World.  Instead of the typical Disney Purple overhead guides, they are the traditional green because these were erected by FDOT as the entire World Drive & US 192 interchange is state maintained including World Drive proper.

After looking through your photos, I see a lot of Orlando-area signage is in Clearview.  Love the photos though, because I can vaguely remember some of them from when I lived in Orlando.

Thanks so much for the compliment.  Yeah Orlando (or should I say FDOT) is using that particular font.

are the non-mutcd Disney world signs considered way-finding signs?

Yes they are.  Motorists leaving the Magic Kingdom Theme Park are directed out via World Drive onto US 192 and I-4.  I-4 east is via US 192 while I-4 west now has a direct connection from World Drive. Yes these are that, and there is one carbon copy sign left on US 192 EB https://www.flickr.com/photos/54480415@N08/13848260225/in/photostream/ of copied over TURNPIKE SOUTH before the Osceola Parkway was built were directed to the Toll Road via US 192 EB.

The other theme parks use other routes out.  Epcot uses Epcot Center Drive, Hollywood Studios uses Buena Vista Drive to Epcot Center Drive, and the Animal Kingdom uses Osceola Parkway.

However all parks direct Southbound FL Turnpike via Osceola Parkway and the Florida Turnpike Northbound via Western Way & FL 429 from Buena Vista Drive as not that much traffic is bound for that particular Road as most arrive from I-4 and US 192.

A new photo I have updated among 3 others today.  It should have been posted a few days ago as its out of sequence to my updates in which I am trying to past in sequential order for the roads I am featuring.

Luckily flickr on your sets can let you arrange the order of photos the way you want, so on my I-4 set they should be in order of how they appear driving.

A photo from the Celebration Area on I-4.  Exit 62 is for two roads so technically the exit is for the I-4 EB C/D roadway that connects with World Drive and eventually FL 417.  This is the first guide that is on one sign as the others has both roads on separate panels as this one condenses the information by leaving out Sanford and just directing the International Airport using an icon.

interesting they only use the icon. most times I see the airport spelled out as well. (which could be considered redundant, especially for those of us that understand the point of the icon)

That is because there is not enough room to fit the whole proper name inside the sign.  Being that there is so many foreign tourists the icon is a great idea.  In fact all airports nationwide should use the icon to save room on the sign itself.  Then if you have multiple airports use the three letter airport code with it as each airport in the whole world has its own unique codes that many are familiar with.

An update for today of a supplemental guide sign on I-4 Eastbound for the Disney Hollywood Studios Theme Park.

This theme park is also a supplemental control city for previous Exit 62, so many will not see this guide who are destined for it, but its good to have a fail safe just in case.  There is always someone who will miss an exit or even a guide sign.

Started a new job so I was away from the computer, so I missed a couple of days, but here is one to start.
Anyway like the greenout that once was Downtown Disney?  Downtown Disney is still there, but FDOT thinks its better to be on a supplemental sign than on the main sign.  The newer sign below ( sign bridge previous of above photo) is made smaller not to include anything other than Epcot.

Another construction photo of the FL Turnpike & FL 417 partial interchange that is being built.  For those of you unfamiliar with Orlando area roads the crossing of the two freeways south of Orlando never had an interchange between the two.  Now a partial interchange is being constructed to allow NB Turnpike patrons to exit at least on to NB FL 417 and for those traveling SB FL 417 access at least to the FL Turnpike heading south.

This photo is taken along nearby Orange Avenue where the NB Turnpike to NB FL 417 ramp will cross Orange Avenue.  This, as you can see, is the form for the girder anchor of the bridge that will carry that particular ramp across the arterial as seen from the NB sidewalk looking west.(https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2918/14168943373_0eaae10f32_c.jpg)

Here is today's update just taken this previous week of the same location of the last photo showing the beams now placed across Town Center Boulevard.  (https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5314/14202835874_32ec43806a_c.jpg)
Looking westward on Town Center. The incline you see leads up to the FL TPK bridge.  The future ramp is being built over Town Center as the diverge point is just south of Town Center Boulevard for the future Turnpike exit.  This is being done to also accommodate a future flyover from NB FL TPK to SB TOLL FL 417 at a later date.  Not featured in this photo is a stub being created for that way to the left of the photo.

Happy Saturday to all of you.  Here is my most recent update of the supplemental sign on I-4 Eastbound approaching Exit 75.  Not only is the LEFT EXIT unusual for a supplemental sign, but the hotel in view next to the roadway is one of Orlando's oldest hotels on International Drive.  Although a different name now, it was a Holiday Inn for several decades.  As many of us old timers know Holiday Inns and Howard Johnson's used to dominate the interstate system everywhere.  You could not pass by any major city or suburb on a freeway without seeing either or at once upon a time.   Here after 40 years we have one relic still standing.

Signage that was after I-95 north of FL 528 was completed to three lanes.  Originally it was three lanes up to this exit and the right lane defaulted onto the Exit 205 c/d roadway.  For some reason the construction workers covered it up rather than remove the warning strip below.

Shouldn't the exit tab read either "EXIT 205 A-B" or "EXITS 205 A-B"? 205 AB sounds like they ran out of exits for 205 and started over again.

Also, general question, but did Florida always use white-on-green for the TOLL portion of a Florida Toll Route shield? I could've sworn it was black on yellow, even on overhead guide signs.

White on green for the TOLL banner was the default until recent years. The majority of signs remain in this scheme, though they are starting to change over to black on yellow, especially in South Florida.

I don't think I've ever seen black on yellow in Florida. It sounds a little familiar bc I might have seen one before, but I don't think I have, mainly because I have never been to south Florida. Farthest south I've been is Orlando.

I'm surprised that they didn't start with black on yellow, considering the trailblazer assemblies are black on yellow.

It makes sense - 528 goes pretty much directly to the airport, so signing it close to the interchange is a smart thing to do.

Plus the Orlando Airport serves most of Central Florida including the Beach resorts of Brevard County marketed as Florida's Space Coast, so yes it does.  Many beach goers here would benefit from this sign especially if they fly into Central Florida.

Indeed. There's an airport in Melbourne, but I'm pretty sure the only commercial flights going there are Delta flights connecting through Atlanta, and those flights usually cost more than flying to Orlando (MCO).

Melbourne is indeed only a regional airport with limited flights unlike MCO which has plenty more from more locations including international destinations.

I do not know if United is still at Melbourne or not as they took over Continental a few years back which was the airline that took over the defunct People Express that did fly in there back in the 80's.  They did have a direct flight from Newark, NJ then pre Lorenzo days.  If they kept that flight that PE started to date over all these years, Melbourne would still have some more connection to other areas in the US and as cheap as a flight to Orlando would from Newark Liberty.

Lately I have been out of sequence with my photos as I try to keep them in order along certain routes or stick in general areas to avoid confusion.  However, lately I have taken some more photos and finding more photos, so I have been inserting some in there here and there.  The I-95 construction photo above was taken last Saturday after I started loading other stuff already on I-95 so that is why I went from Titusville to Ormond Beach and then back to Titusville.  If you want to see the order of the signs progressing northward, go into the I-95 in Florida album and they will be in order there.

Also I inserted some random photos  of a shield assembly along US 27 Alternate in Chiefland, FL and a sign assembly in Camden County, GA along I-95.  My next move is to share some 09 trip photos that I took along with some 08 trip photos on two completely different road trips I took and hopefull start some new albums as well.

Today I move over to US 41 in Williston.  For those of you who know Florida is now moving over to the wide shields, but this intersection here where US 41 joins FL 121 for a brief concurrency is still using 2 digit shields for the 3 digit route number.

https://flic.kr/p/p8TYXR Today's update is another shield assembly NB on US 41 approaching US 27 ALT.  Not signed here is SB US 27 ALT that wrong way concurs with NB US 41 & FL 121 to the right.  I believe FDOT engineers felt it is awkward to sign this type of concurrency especially being US 27 ALT ends a very short distance after the brief overlap starts.

https://flic.kr/p/oYG6Fe Today I am offering an update of a mileage sign on US 129 N Bound in Jasper.  The mileage sign is for two Georgia points as this assembly is only 8 miles from where US 129 enters the Peach State.  From this place along the Chiefland, FL to Knoxville, TN route it is 14 miles to Statenville and 38 miles to Lakeland.

The assembly is also just a few feet north of its split with US 41 as both US 129 and US 41 share a 3 mile long overlap through Hamilton County's seat of Jasper, FL.

https://flic.kr/p/peUxcu Today I have a NB US 129 & NB FL 100 shield.  FL 100 is the secret route number for US 129 from the south end of the US 129 & US 41 concurrency to the GA Border.  FL 100 also exists as its own route from Lake City, FL to Flagler Beach, FL as well.  From Lake City to US 129 at Jasper it silently follows US 90 and US 41 to make the route complete.

Lane widening from four to six.  The overall plan is to make I-95 six or more lanes its 382 mile run in the Sunshine State.  Too many tourists and locals in South Florida make the demand overwhelming.

Ah, that sounds like a good idea, and I guess when work is complete I-95 from its southern terminus in Miami to the South Carolina line will be the second longest stretch of interstate that is continuously at least 3 lanes each way (after I-75 from Chattanooga, TN to Wildwood, FL).

They are working on six-laning I-75 through Pasco now, and the portion through Hernando and Sumter will follow. And the plan is to six lane the last section of I-75 through Macon, with a small piece north of I-16 recently widened.

Right now I-75 holds the record from Wildwood to Macon until FDOT finishes this stretch from Titusville to Daytona.  Once completed it will be well over 500 miles of six lane  (or more) lane of continuous freeway.  That is like driving from San Antonio almost to El Paso on I-10 when done.

However, once the projects are completed on I-75 like Alex said, the stretch will become around 700 miles of continuous freeway beating I-95 by almost 200 miles.

https://flic.kr/p/p6Smik Here is the other side of the road entering Georgia from Florida.  Notice the zero mile marker to the right as Georgia does not only use mile markers off freeways, but for each individual county a state route passes.  So again in less than a few miles away, GA Route 7 (US 41's secret route here) resets back to zero.

All GA US route mileposts mark distance for the numbered state route and not the US route. For example all US 301 mile markers in Charlton County do not at all represent US 301's southern terminus in the county, but that of GA Route 23 that is co-signed with US 301 from Folkston to where the concurrency enters Brantley County south of Nahunta, GA.

https://flic.kr/p/p8oomU Being I did not get a chance to link yesterday's update I thought that I would give you another update. No you are not seeing double here, but that the words BUS are in very small lettering inside the shields.  For several years now US 41 uses Inner Perimeter Road to bypass Valdosta on the east side of the Lowndes County Seat.

The original alignment has since been converted to Business US 41 which goes straight and the Perimeter goes to the right.

Also GA 94 now is truncated to the new US 41 alignment as previous it ended at I-75 on the west side of Valdosta.  In addition US 221 is realigned to this new alignment by having its long concurrency with US 84 extended eastward by about 2 miles and then join US 41 for a brief overlap to rejoin its original alignment on Lakeland Highway.

Thanks Alex.  I see the newer signs like Exit 18 removing "ROAD 13" from the sign in favor of a street name.

Then of course SC has their new shields that were only part done when I took these back in 08.

I also noticed, off the subject here, but related; that SC 64 now bypasses Walterboro and the old route is now a Business designation including the intersection with US 15 and now Business SC 64 being shifted to the other side of the McDonalds to rid the Y split in favor of a more safer T intersection.

I am sad though that the old Boston and Jersey style truss mast arms in downtown are now gone, but one thing for sure is that the pre I-95 alignment of US 17 ALT and SC 63 still is the same even after the freeway north of Exit 58 was opened between Walterboro and Santee back in the late 70's.  If you follow US 15 into Walterboro from the north and not make any turns, you will find yourself later on SC 63 WB.  As US 15 does default onto US 17 Alternate SB, and then 17A defaults still onto SC 63 with 17A having to make a gradual left into a Y split.

I guess SCDOT left that to encourage SB US 17 Alternate motorists to use I-95 instead of the two lane highway through Yemassee.

Yes, all SC sign replacements I've noted replaced the Road number with the road name, even some of the older Highway Gothic based signs on I-26.

I drove US 15 southbound in January and will have to take a look. Have photos from 2007 through there too, when did SC 64 change?

That is a good question as I was even surprised when I did a virtual tour of the area roads and saw the BUSINESS banner where a typical SC 64 shield should be.

The Google map yet does not show it, but the images by the street view show the signage as such.

In one of the pics, what's the deal with the two travel lanes being fresh asphalt, and the very thin line of pavement where the striping is is brown concrete or something?? If they were doing a resurfacing job, I am very confused why the thin area of pavement where the broken striping is is the way it is. But nonetheless, good pics.

Adventurenumber1, I wish I knew what that one was about.  You are right it looks so odd that they would leave the pavement the way it is on the lane striping an resurface the actual lane itself.  Your guess is good as mine.

Anyway thanks for the compliments.

I've always liked this interchange for how ridiculously high the ramps are from 95 - of course necessary to clear the James River.  Also wondering if the missing ramp from 95 SB to the bridge is in the works, although the low traffic volumes on 895 probably mean that won't happen for awhile.  Looks like there is a portion of a ghost ramp on the Chippenham toward the bridge designed to accommodate this missing move.

I do not know as it took centuries for them to change the original MD route text signs out for these.  Probably another 20 years before you see it.

What I find amazing is that Baltimore is now the control city for I-95 N Bound where the Parkway here happens to go there as well.  I know its awkward when you have two roads intersecting that go to the same place crossing perpendicular.  The same on the Palisades Parkway in Rockland County, NY where "White Plains" is used on the PIP for the SB I-87 & EB I-287 exit as well as "New Jersey"  for the SB I-87/EB I-287  to the SB PIP ramp so that people do not get confused and jump ship so to say as you have this situation.

However, in small print below the "Baltimore" name, put VIA INTERSTATE FREEWAY or something to let them know that the control city there is not for traffic control but there to fulfill guidelines and offer another alternative.

Incidentally the control city for I-95 N Bound at the BW Parkway is also Baltimore.

Just to clarify, the control city for both the PIP and I-87 is normally New York, but one says New Jersey and one says White Plains in order to avoid confusion.

Do the signs use two control cities ( I.e. New Jersey/New York and White Plains/New York) or is New York skipped at the junction?

For the Beltway/Parkway situation, I always felt that the parkway should be listed as Baltimore via BWI and the Beltway as Silver Spring/Baltimore to avoid confusion.

The whole New York is skipped at the junction of the I-87/287 & PIP junction.

What is even more interesting about the BW Parkway is where it meets with I-95 proper in Baltimore again going south it uses the BWI Airport as a control and not Washington off of I-95 S Bound.

Yes your suggestion would also work as the Parkway really is the secondary route of the two routes between there and Baltimore.

Perhaps whoever designed that sign was using "95 North" in the sense we used to use "29 North" when I lived in Charlottesville–referring not to the northbound lanes but rather to the entire road north of Baltimore (or Charlottesville in my example). In other words, for example, "To get from Rio Hill to the Waffle House, go south on 29 North until the light after the McDonald's and then turn right."

Or, alternatively, "If you want to get to I-95 North towards New York, use one of these tunnels."

I do know what you mean and this indeed is for through I-95 North traffic.  I just found it to be interesting that you would take I-95 to get to I-95 North.

Really to make the sign better would be to use "Tunnels to New York" or place another type of sign that refers to I-895 being an alternate route to I-95 north or something.

Or even better yet use "FOR" instead of "TO."

I've noted both Virginia and Maryland employ "FOLLOW" when they want to direct traffic for a particular location to follow a particular route, though I've seen both states employing the word "USE" as well. In the example you cite, I wonder if they could put "I-95 North to New York" on the top line, then the next line "USE EITHER," then the shield/tunnel/mileage references. Ideally in that scenario you'd add I-695 and the Key Bridge because of the hazmats.

It's odd to me that they would get rid of the Washington control city on I-95 on these signs 8 whole miles south of the Springfield Interchange.  I think the sign here should just read I-95 north Washington and there should be no mention of Baltimore or NYC (or I-395) until at least 6 more miles.

However, if you knew the interchange then you will know why this is so as after I-95 passes the diverge of I-295 then I-495 splits taking two of those lanes.  All three roads are major in the area and each take two lanes each from this part of I-95 with its many lanes.

Wow, talk about severe dancing arrows. The larger sign to the left in that image is particularly bad in this respect. I don't mind Clearview, but I don't like the way Delaware's implemented it on a lot of the signs on I-95. I'd be hard-pressed to explain WHY, however. I think, in the case of the larger of the two signs shown in that image, there's just too much green space between the word "Philadelphia" and the arrows below. The sign looks too spaced-out.

I know we had a discussion once before about Delaware's Clearview signs on I-95, but I can't find it at the moment. If a search turns it up, I'll edit this to link it.

Edited to add: Prior discussion linked below. I had posted a picture of the old southbound pull-thru signs and Alex responded with a picture of the new ones. It led to a discussion of the signs not looking quite right to the eye and we concluded they looked unbalanced.

Your sign of the former I-95/ I-895 split is big, but understandable for its use.  The one's Delaware uses are way too big for its purpose.  A pull through does not really need to be that big, but the one at the former I-95/ I-895's configuration is doing lane control at a split for two important freeways distributing vast amounts of straight through traffic to different areas beyond, so it could take up the whole roadway for attention.  What possible attention does one need there.

Basically its the shape, that does it.  DelDOT could have did a better job of coming up with better sized signs that could still work and complete the intention desired.   I agree with you there on this whole thing in Delaware  based from what I have seen.

BTW, I said that last statement just in case our mutual buddy is in one of his moods and starts in on the fact I have not been to Delaware since 2009 and I should not comment on  things in the last five years being so.

The southbound signs along Interstate 95 ahead of Delaware 1 & 7 are even larger.

Those northbound signs were added by 2008, and likely will be replaced again in the near future with APL's, since DelDOT has wholeheartedly embraced them.

I am working on an update to our Delaware I-95 pages this week and will have new photos of both directions showing all the sign changes.

What's interesting in the photo of the 95/495 and 295 split, is that instead of EXIT ONLY, they omitted the EXIT (something Caltrans does to signify freeway-to-freeway lane drops if I'm not mistaken). I assume it was just a move to save space (you could probably fit it in there though with Series C or D), but I haven't really seen just an ONLY without the EXIT in many other places besides California.

I was checking out those SB signs that 1995 mentioned on the link, and I noticed what he was saying there about the SB signs.  It is totally redundant as you can see two large spaced out signs within close proximity to each other just pointing out lane control issues, when one is really needed.

In the past Maryland sometimes used "ONLY" without "EXIT" when there's one option lane and one exit-only lane–but not always. On more recent signs, it seems they prefer to stack the words "EXIT ONLY" instead (Street View example: http://goo.gl/maps/Py3zM )

I was just looking at the Delaware signs roadman posted (https://flic.kr/p/pxLvek ) and I found myself thinking how the dancing arrow on the left-hand side is really a horrible way of signing things because it is by no means easy to tell at a quick glance where the dancing arrow is pointing. This is one situation where the APL style is probably clearer.

I think it's interesting how Philadelphia is signed on I-495 at this split. Whichever way you go, you will still reach Philadelphia, it's just a matter of what you pass through. I'd imagine the city proper (through I-95) would be a bit busier, but still, I would think that more people are looking for just I-95 and not I-495 if they are heading north.

At one time DelDOT did have I-495 signed as I-95 and I-95 signed as I-895.   I still have an old Exxon Map showing the brief switch at home.  I do not know why it was reversed.

I-495 according to Wikipedia is signed that way to take the majority of the straight through traffic off of I-95 in Wilmington.  FYI on the other side Baltimore is used going SB to do the same as I-95 is only four lanes while I-495 is six lanes.

In the late 1980s, a I-495 shield fell off one of the overheads along I-95 north at the split with I-495, revealing an I-95 marker underneath. As I recall, the I-495 shield used series B Highway Gothic in a 2di-width shield.

You know I remember when it was signed as I-495.  As you already know how Delaware transitions new route numbers from old is by signing both as a concurrency.  Even when DE  896 was shifted over to end in Boyd's Corner.  At first it was co signed with US 13 down to Townsend where it used to end until people got used to the change, and then DelDOT removed the DE 896 shields from Boyd's Corner to Townsend.

I even have seen on my Dad's old Esso Map's of a DE 1 & 14 concurrency as well as both a US 9 and DE 28 concurrency between Laurel and Georgetown and a US 9 and DE 18 concurrency from Georgetwon to Lewes.  After seeing the I-95/495 and the US 13/DE 896 transitions, I can guess that DelDOT did the same when US 9 was added to the Delaware network as well as DE 1.

Anyway here is my update for today.  A photo of a sign bridge along i-495 https://flic.kr/p/oUNvwj just after sunset.

In this photo I love how there is a partition between 12th Street and DE 3 instead of between the DE 9 and 12th Street exits.  Also how there are two number 1's for both the street name and control point for DE 9 as well.

The General (Local Road) goes from US 92 in Southwest Tampa to I-75 east of Tampa.  The other freeway goes from the streets of Downtown Tampa to the mall area roads around Brandon.  The Express Freeway actually acts as a rush hour bypass of nearby SR 60 while the other serves as a regional road connecting I-75 with the areas of Tampa from East to West.

Back on I-4 now, here is the first EB guide sign if you are coming from I-275 N Bound onto I-4 East as its on the ramp itself before the S Bound ramp merges in.  https://flic.kr/p/pL1Ag6 (https://flic.kr/p/pL1Ag6) Notice the decommissioning FL 585 that used to be routed on the one way couplet before the Crosstown Connection was built.  It now has "Cruise Ships" as the new Crosstown Connector does not have access to the cruise terminals.

https://flic.kr/p/q6cnkN (https://flic.kr/p/q6cnkN) A bit late today, but better late than never.  The only overhead for McIntosh Road near Seffner, FL as the at exit guide is still a ground mount despite the fact that all the other interstates in Florida have been moving towards overheads like these on six or more lane highways.  I-4 still has plenty of ground mounts to be found even post widening to six lanes in many places.

Here is one photo I just updated today from around Ocala, FL.  It is a pair of US 301 and US 441 shields that are not on the typical montube sign posts that FDOT uses, but on the curved steel slotted hole assemblies that is standard in most sign posts, especially for urban NO PARKING signs.

If you like these as well wait till you see what I have next.  Starting tomorrow I will be posting I-10 photos heading westward to New Orleans where I will then post some photos around the Big Easy and some I-49 photos from around Lafayette, Opelousas, and Alexandria.

I have so many that it is hard to keep up.  Now I know why some of you who own your own sites take almost a year or more to post photos of your road trips and other's submissions.  It is not easy.

However it is all worth it though.  And thanks!

Two new updates today.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/54480415@N08/16834367637/in/photostream
Historic signage along LA 48 E Bound at an interchange that has been totally reconfigured.   Since the Huey P. Long Bridge's widening project, the flyover that carried LA 48 over a traffic circle at the bridge's eastshore approach are both now gone.  Now the bridge itself is extended over LA 48  and meets the ramps to the bridge at grade so no more free flowing through here as it has been before.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/54480415@N08/17053644872/ A picture of the Hale Boggs Bridge as seen N Bound from I-310 near St. Rose, LA along with a guide sign for Exit 6 leading to LA 48.

Thanks so much for viewing.  Enjoy these new updates as I am now back to a daily routine of updating.

Edit 4-7-2015.  Added a photo taken along I-310 N Bound at US 61 interchange. https://www.flickr.com/photos/54480415@N08/16878541918/

Edit 4-8-2015 Added a photo from the southern beginning of LA 57 in Cocoradie, LA.  The shield is the newer black on white LA highway shield and lacks a directional header.

Hey fellow road fans, I have just finished uploading a whole slough of photos from South Central Louisiana.   I know a lot of people here like my freeway photos and, of course, my last several updates were local road scenes of typical non freeway signage, however I had some pics of traveling from Baton Rouge to Houma via the two lane LA Routes in between that I needed to post.

For you freeway lovers, I will be back tomorrow posting some more I-10 pictures. Then I will be posting a couple of pics from New Orleans before moving on to I-49 photos.  So plenty of freeway pictures to come.  Enjoy these I have for now.

Moving along US 90 and US 167 as the two routes overlap for a very short distance in Lafayette, LA. This is where US 90 leaves the two route concurrency.  Its the first time US 90 turns since the Huey P. Long Bridge near NOLA as most of US 90 from the bridge to Lafayette is on a continuous expressway with some freeway segments.

Beyond the intersection US 167 continues north to meet I-10 and the start of I-49 a short distance later.

Approaching the City of Alexandria along I-49 North.  Exit 80 starts a second concurrency with US 167 and a Bypass designation for US 71 as its mainline route runs along the city streets of Alexandria.  Also the speed limit drops to 60 mph from here northward as yellow speed reducing signs are present in the distance.

In LA, so far, I-49 is the only LA interstate with a speed limit higher than 70 mph.  Most of I-49 north of Opelousas, including the new section north of Shreveport is posted for 75 mph.  It is just that in Alexandria, for obvious reasons, is only 60 mph.

My latest updates are from around the Webb City and Joplin Missouri area.

Personally I find this particular sign gantry to be interesting as the SB MO 249 control city is "Joplin" considering that motorists along this stretch came from that particular place.

More interestingly is the fact that several miles later when MO 171 intersects I-49 that "Joplin" will be used one more time for the SB I-49/US 71 ramp.

That's a lot of brown for a local historic district:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/54480415@N08/24002423104/in/album-72157665212405685/

I can see this for a state or national park, but if this is the way it's supposed to be, perhaps we should expect signs on NY 27 at Exit 54 to be replaced with blue ones, considering that the road is for Brookhaven Memorial Hospital.

Yes the clouds can also get in the way.  A setback as well as the sun, especially in the Fall, Winter, and Early Spring when the days get shorter.  I took many WB photos of I-70, that came out badly due to it was mid afternoon in Early November, but I did manage to get many good I-70 E Bound photos along its concurrency with I-55 though.

I just finished putting together a flickr album for Florida's Turnpike.   So far I gathered over 30 photos heading NB in St. Lucie County and in Ocoee and Winter Garden in Orange County.   Not the best photos as some have windshield smears and stuff, but enough for a glimpse into the roadway in those two specific areas including one construction photo of the future Minneola Interchange that is currently being built as well.  My memory card maxed out just as I photographed them, so sorry I could not get more of that particular project.
