Oklahoma uses the slash gore markings too. I am not sure why; it seems like chevrons make more sense.

Chevrons definitely make more sense, but hatching is faster to place, especially along curves.

Arkansas seems to chevron by district. District 4 is special, because they both do and don't on parts of I-40 and the surrounding OK area.
