Has any one visited every state a Specific US Route goes
« on: May 31, 2022, 10:07:06 AM »

I was wondering if there are any US routes you’ve not clinched end to end, but at least been on one part in each state the route visits?

For me been on US 9 in all three states it transits, but missing segments in each.

US 13 is another. Been on in all 5 states but clinched only one state: Maryland but also  have most of Virginia and Delaware. Need NC and PA to complete.

US 301 I have clinched  every state , but one. I just need two parts in Virginia to have that done, but nonetheless have been on US 301 in every state from FL to DE though.

For me...

US-8 (clinched entire route)
US-10 (clinched WI)
US-12 (clinched IN, IL, WI, ID, WA)
US-18 (clinched WI)
US-31
US-41 (clinched WI, IL, IN)
US-61 (clinched WI)
US-131 (clinched IN)
US-136
US-141 (clinched WI)
US-150
US-151 (clinched WI)

There are probably a bunch of others if it includes getting off an interstate somewhere to get gas, duplexing, etc.

US-1 immediately comes to mind; I've been on it in every jurisdiction it traverses but have only clinched it in DC.

Not sure about any others, I'd have to look through my Travel Mapping records and I don't have time right now.

This is actually one of those little mind games I do to get myself to sleep. I'll go down the list of routes, then whether I've been on or clinched it in the states it traverses.

One of my subjects last night was US 64. Clinched in Arizona, been on in New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, and North Carolina.

US 97 for me.  What is missing: The northern section leading from Wenatchee to the Canadian border.

Add in US 95. Lots of missing pieces there...LOL!  At least I hit it in all the Western states this route runs through.

I didn't think I would have any cool answers, but I think US 191 is a pretty cool answer!  It's the route to a bunch of national parks, so I've been on US 191 in all of its states: MT, WY, UT, AZ. Another one I didn't expect: US 93 in all four states: MT, ID, NV, AZ.

I have US36 in all six of its states (CO, KS, MO, IL, IN, OH).  The CO and IN sections don't appear on my TM file, but I have driven on them (US36 in Estes Park, CO, and in Rockville, IN). So my cool answers are US 191, 93, and 36.

Other lower-hanging fruit:

US 35 (3 states)
US 16 (2 states)
US 91 (2 states)
US 131 (2 states)
US 74 (2 states)
US 73 (2 states)
US 159 (2 states)
US 151 (2 states)
US 218 (2 states)

US-160 – although the NM and AZ portions were as a passenger, before I was old enough to drive

US-400

US-59 – although the IA portion was as a passenger, getting off I-80 at Avoca

Maybe more, I don't know...

My most impressive route for this is US 41. But my claims for Georgia and Tennessee are pretty weak; my GA section is the one where it overlaps I-75, and I went on about 3 blocks in Chattanooga to access a hotel off the interstate.

Others include US 92 and 192 (both gimmicky, in my opinion) and US 151.

I might have more, but my trips have largely been limited to the Midwest and around Florida.

US 29 goes through 8 states, and I have been on part of US 29 in each of those states.  (Well, 7 states + DC)

US 301 goes through 7 states, and I have been on part of US 301 in each of those states.

I'm not going to bother listing the ones that only go through one or two states since that seems to be against the spirit of the question.

Are we able to claim routes that once existed but due to being decommissioned no longer exist in the state?  Like for example if you were on US 27 when it went into Michigan when it existed you can still claim it?

And if that is able to count I assume in spirit of the rule driving on route post decommissioning does not count, meaning I can't claim US 112 or US 16 in MI as they were decommissioned and drove it as I-94, I-96, US 12 those are how I'd have to claim such highways....correct?

Only asking as have been on US 27 almost all the way to it's northern terminus when it went into Michigan.  And while I have been on US 127 to claim it, it feels against spirit of rules to claim 127 if wasn't numbered as such back then.

My family mostly took US 66 from Illinois to California back in 1968. So I'll claim that. I can claim others (US 8, US 58, US 61, US 141, US 151, etc.) but I'm too lazy to figure out every one.

My examples would be US 93, US 95 and US 97, as I have driven those extensively but have never made it to the US/Canada border on any of those routes.

Regarding east-west US highways, at least the long-distance ones, I have never driven my own car anywhere east of I-25.  All driving I have ever done east of there has been relatively local in rental cars, or occasionally Mom's or Dad's car when they lived in Florida.  So there's a missed state somewhere on all of those.  On US 50 for example, which runs a few hundred yards from my house, I'm sure I'm never been on any part of it in Kansas.

How I'm doing so far:
1- 1/14(Florida)
2- 2/7(Wisconsin and Michigan)
6- 3/14(Iowa, Illinois, Indiana)
8- 2/3(Wisconsin and Michigan)
10- 1/4(Wisconsin)
12- 3/10(Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan)
14- 3/5(South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin)
16- 1/2(South Dakota)
18- 1/4(Wisconsin)
20- 1/12(Iowa)
27- 2/7*(Michigan, Indiana) US now is in 6 states, drove when it still was in MI and nothern Indiana
41- 5/8(Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Georgia, Florida)
45- 2/7(Michigan, Wisconsin)
51- 4/6(Louisiana, Mississippi, Illinois, Wisconsin)
53- 1/2(Wisconsin)
61- 5/8(Tennessee, Arkansas, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota)
69- 2/6 (Texas, Oklahoma
90- 3/5(Texas, Louisiana, Florida)
127- 1/4(Michigan)
141- 2/2(Wisconsin/Michigan)
151- 2/2(Wisconsin/Iowa)
385- 1/6(South Sakota)
441- 1/4(Florida)

There are others like US 63 or 59 that I think I could have drove/been on but unless I'm 100% sure I did not include those or any other US highways in doubt

Same for US 64 and US 70 for that matter.
