Worth the money spent!
If you make it to the islands, best to do them in fall or you'll be running into continuous rain on the northeast facing slopes of the island thanks to the trade winds squeezing moisture out on the peaks - especially of Maui and the Big Island.
The trip was done with a Jeep Wrangler on Oahu (waste given the rental agreement) and a Camaro SS Convertible on the Big Island (wasted due to the tires installed on it by the rental company causing slippage due to the condition of them and the weight of the engine under the hood)
