Let's see if I can make this harder by using an on-bridge view instead of a side elevation view

Hint 1: New England
Hint 2: Quack!

Union Street over the Merrimack River — Lawrence, MA

Hint 2 made it too easy!

Looking at Street View, I think kphoger's got it. Hint 2 wouldn't have helped me, though looking at the map I now get the reference!

My first thought is the Port Mann bridge (Hwy 1 over the Fraser River) in Surrey, BC.

Reasonable enough that when I first checked Street View, I became even more confident.. before realizing that the mountains in the background didn't quite match. I guess it's got a twin somewhere out there.

Hint #1:  This bridge is 849.3 miles from my house, as the crow flies.

Nearby were these textile mills, which produced duck-down material.

Funny, that red tower visible through the cables had me thinking somewhere in Latin America.

I edited the photo to make the bridge more difficult to identify, and that red tower was how I gauged how much color to remove.

No, but a reasonable guess. I looked at your bridge, and it actually looks quite similar to my submission. The correct bridge is still in European Russia.

my line of reasoning for that was, "where have i seen this bridge...did i see it in air crash investigation" and then i went "oh...the water ditching"

I knew that clue would work well. Correct. It is one of the Seven Bridges of Königsberg, Prussia. Today, there are only five left.
