national highway 1

Here are some wide squares...
Also, why not add some N/S/E/W Banners, as well as ALT, BUSINESS, BYPASS & TRUCK banners. Arrows could be an option, too.

That's....not a wide 61 (from agentsteele's site!)- that's a later specification.

ausinterkid, I would relax on the requests here in this thread.  Jake can sometimes have a short temper. lol.

He works on this when he has free time to do so.

we have wide California style US cutouts.  :sombrero:

and those 191s aren't even a later specification - they're 1970 spec stretched in photoshop by 16% to fit the rectangular blank.

you will see 1970 spec shields in the generator, oh sometime half past never.

you will see stretched asshattery approximately even later than that, plus a week for shipping.

you buy one of each banner from me and I will add them to the generator.  :sombrero:

the cleaver is a nice one but I'd have technical difficulties because of the way the border is broken behind the letters.  It would involve more coding time to do correctly than I'm willing to invest.  The classic diamond used 1924-1948 or so is available, though!  :sombrero:

You should do this one.  Sure, it's boring, but it looks like it would be easy to code.

it would be, but I don't anticipate it being a crowd favorite... and it's the crowd favorites that sell the signs!  Remember, the shield generator is a for-profit venture.  :pan:

How about a button copy circle:

It is about the only interesting circle and would get several states with one shield.

Also could you make a 3 digit version of the button copy US shield?

EDIT: I just figured out how to make the 3 digit button copy shield.

the Iowa cast iron circle would be the first circle I'd consider.  I'm trying to think which state other than Oklahoma had the circle and used button copy shields.  New Jersey is, I think, the only other one.

The most interesting thing about this photo to me is the Safeway market in the background.  Safeway exited the Oklahoma marketing area in 1987...I believe that their holdings were sold to Albertsons. :)

There are lots of pictures of Safeway stores in the Beryl Ford Collection (http://www.tulsalibrary.org/bfc/) website.  There are a few shields and a bridge or two if you want to wade through it.  My best luck is searching by highway number (33, 66, 64 51, etc.)

I posted a list of all the pictures of signs and what not in the Beryl Ford Collection on MTR a few months ago.  I could find it and post it here if anybody wants to see the good pictures without having to sift through thousands of pictures.

Sure, why not start a thread for it.

I've a picture of a cut-out modern Oregon shield -- no border, no state name, no eagle. Care if I dredge it from the depths of my hard drive and submit it?

nah, those aren't nearly as interesting as the ones with the eagle!

I will grant you that -- but I was very happy to see it cutout nonetheless, and more importantly, it's still up!

It is.

I do have a photo of that - it was intended for mounting on a green sign.

minor update in version 1.15 of the shield generator - finally, the problem with Series C digits "6" and "7" in the standard round federal font set has been corrected, so now 376 doesn't come out looking like "37 6".
