Interesting that PennDOT has such a low speed limit on US 40 WB heading down the long hill into Uniontown.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/nTPJ3G5YTaicJAFi9
Plus plenty of these warning signs as well.

Then at the beginning of that long decent, you have a red warning sign informing truckers of the upcoming road conditions.

I'm taking that stretch of US 40 is a dead man's highway hence all of these warnings and such a low speed limit.
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

10 MPH is almost impossible to maintain down that hill. In fact, I've had to engine brake an SUV because of the speed it kept picking up.

PennDOT - District 6 News: PennDOT to Begin Active Traffic Management Project on I-476 in Delaware, Montgomery Counties

QuoteThe VSL systems on I-476 will display regulatory speed limits that can change based on real-time expressway, traffic and weather conditions to improve traffic flow and safety by warning drivers of changing travel conditions.

The installation of the QW systems will provide real-time displays of electronic warning messages to alert motorists of significant slowdowns ahead to reduce sudden stopping and the potential for rear-end crashes. These new devices will operate in conjunction with the existing ITS components in place on I-476 in Delaware and Montgomery counties.

The limits for this project are on I-476 South from approximately 1.8 miles north of the U.S. 30 Interchange (Exit 13) to I-95; and on I-476 North from I-95 to Marple Road near the Route 3 Interchange (Exit 9).

@74/171FAN why is 81 closed for 2 years near NY border?
I noticed when I was going there back in April, it was down to one lane. Now its closed.
So I gotta go somewhere else. :banghead:

Where are you seeing a closure?  Not seeing anything on Google Maps or 511PA.

I just drove it.  Definitely not closed.  Pain in the rear work zone when people don't read the signs instructing trucks to use the left lane only...

Surprised the posted limit for most of the zone is 65, seems very unlike PennDOT

There is a work zone on US 15 around Gettysburg where there's a lane closed and the speed limit is still 65. Think there's another on I-84 with a crossover and the limit remains normal.

It was on Google Maps about a couple of days ago on Saturday.
Said closed until 2026.
Now it looks like Google reverted the road closure.
