I've always found Twitter a bit silly–who wants to know that Scott is eating cheetos?–but thanks to it there's a way to easily post short little notes to the Internet from anywhere in the world.
I'm headed up to southeast Wisconsin tomorrow (today?). From here, who knows where I might end up (Superior? MSP? The UP? Green Bay?). I intend to post my trip report as it happens via SMS to Twitter. If it comes out somewhat useful, perhaps I'll do it for other future roadtrips.

I'm going to use Twitter to send road work reports to subscribers and also to have the radio stations in our area subscribe to get alerts to give to motorists. Easier to do that for short alerts than to type up press releases and e-mailing them.
