I-80 shut down again over Donner Summit; it has been closed several times in the last few weeks, generally for about 12-24 hours at a time.  Sgt. Strecker of the California Highway Patrol reports from the scene this morning:

I-80 has been a mess west of Cheyenne to SF cause of all the storms this week. Many of our loads were delayed

What's been going on in the Sierra forcing the highway closures is that it has been snowing while the temperature is unusually cold.  Much of our snow falls when the temperature is 30°F or above; that's a heavy, wet snow commonly referred to as "Sierra Cement".  At my house this afternoon, at 6500' at Lake Tahoe, it has been snowing with air temperature around 24°F.  The snow has the consistency of baby powder and when the wind blows it's whiteout time.  I will say, it's much easier to move 6-9 inches of snow that falls at 24°F with a shovel or snowblower than it is to move 2 inches of that warmer wet slop.

Nine inches of snow fell at the Des Moines airport Saturday night into Sunday. More snow, possibly up to six inches, is coming for Tuesday night/Wednesday. If at least that amount falls, it will set a 40-day snowfall record surpassing the 43.5 inch record set in Jan/Feb 1912.

Up to eight inches of snow predicted and we have two with it projected to end in a couple of hours.

What that's the weather. It's 29 degrees right now if you are wondering.

You could elaborate a little more than just snow. One word answers make it seem like you're just post count padding.

Just be a bit more descriptive

We're currently having quite a storm here in Atlanta, and it took a lot of people by surprise -- I don't remember seeing thunder and lightning in the forecast. Quite a bit of street flooding as well. (EDIT to add: the NWS just issued a Flood Warning.)

The forecast for the next week is rain almost every day, adding up to about 3-4 inches when it's all done.

And this didn't happen. Only 2.7 inches of snow fell in Des Moines last night/this morning.

Two claims were made, and one of them turned out to be false.

If I said two things and one of them was false, would you still believe the other no matter what, or would you be a bit skeptical?

Also, the avatar is a Maine license plate. If Maine has the same weather as Massachusetts, it's still snowing.

Storm this weekend will be a wind machine based on the model forecasts. Finally getting a nice drenching rain on Saturday to wash the salt away
