nice last few days, 60 to 70 in colorado

but as all of us in colorado know, when you have days like that in the winter (it IS still winter...) surely the shit cometh and that right soon.

they're talking upwards of 20" of snow over the weekend. i live a short distance into the foothills, so... it could be ugly. i'm pretty sure my camry is less than 20" off the ground...

I drive a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and it's the highest stock clearance of any vehicle and it's only 11" clearance.

Chris

i have two more go-to-town days before the weekend. went to king stupids today and it was mobbed. i'm looking forward to being snowed in up here. i have plenty of food and ... well, other consumables  :spin:  so i'm good.

Yeah, I went to the store the other day and decided to pick up some firewood because it's nice to have in snow.  Then five other people behind me bought a lot of firewood, I guess thinking Colorado could be in the same state as TX was a couple weeks ago.  Even if our power goes out, we have 0° sleeping bags that can keep us plenty warm. :)

Updated forecast.  Looks like Estes Park is forecasted to get 63".  Yikes.

We did our grocery runs the last few days to get prepared for this storm. I'm in Parker, so I'm on the edge of the Palmer Divide, but I'm also right next to Cherry Creek, so I'm probably at one of the lowest elevations in Douglas County. Yet, I'm not planning to go ANYWHERE until Monday afternoon. I would be surprised at anything less than a foot and a half.

Our friends just made it up from Mexico Tuesday night.  They've now dropped their kids off with family and driven out to South Fork for come "couple time" in a cabin before the baby comes.  He texted me last night with "Big snowstorm headed this way!!!" and a link to a WaPo article.  Well, hate to break it to you, bud, but I don't know if more than a couple inches are going to make it down that far south...

At least they should get to see some snow, though.  He loves winter weather, and I don't think they got any snowfall at all this past winter in their part of Mexico.  They got to see some on the mountain peaks south of town, but nothing down below.

It's been quite warm and dry lately in Atlanta with highs in the 70s and dewpoints down in the 20s and 30s. That would make for a great time to be outside ... except that it's been quite smoky thanks to some prescribed burns in the area.

Smoke has gone down today but humidity is up significantly, with dewpoints back in the 50s. We'll see some rain to start off next week. Maybe an outside chance at some severe weather too, but the possibility of that is much less certain.

Less than you, but I just shoveled my driveway, and I got about 27".  The heavy, Midwestern stuff, not our normal powder.  Might go get a massage tomorrow.

We're getting the spare change of the Rockies' snowstorm. I don't like to see snow back on the ground after over a week of no snow on the ground, but it will melt quickly.

High risk of severe thunderstorms has been issued for central Mississippi and surrounding areas. This is a very rare designation - it is the first high risk since May 20, 2019, and only the second since May 2017. Intense long track tornadoes are very possible in this area.

Here in Atlanta we will thankfully be too far east for the big tornadoes, but we're likely to get a squall line of some sort tomorrow night which will likely bring a threat of damaging wind and a few weaker tornadoes.

NWI_Irish96

I was living and working less than 20 miles from Henryville on March 2, 2012, when a high risk was issued for our area. I knew 2 families whose homes were missed by < 1000 yards. Take this threat seriously. Plan to spend the day in a building that has a basement.

You beat me to this post. Yesterday they only had it up to a moderate for that area, including Memphis and Birmingham, and I thought, "Northern Mississippi could be upgraded to a high risk by tomorrow morning." Indeed, I woke up to this on Twitter this morning.
