Snowed on three different days earlier this week but up to 60 today and 75 by Sunday.  I think maybe now we're done with snow for the season?

I once knew a man who lived in Estes Park for 19 months.  He said it snowed at least once every single month he lived there.

This Instagram post from MoDOT's Southwest District sums up the difference in weather conditions of much of the state between yesterday and today:

Is this the first documented instance of a DOT memeing?

Didn't the NJ DOT do an April Fools meme stating that drivers from PA were banned in NJ?

IIRC, I think someone posted it here in one of the Northeast threads.

I got dumped on while climbing Torreys Peak on August 2nd a couple of years ago.

There have been some references to current events (such as the various Star Wars movies or the 2017 solar eclipse) in humorous messages on VMSes. Not sure if any of them were memes, though.

Far from the first. MoDOT and its district accounts use "memes" to announce new projects, road closures, and more; on a regular basis. The one shown above is perhaps the only good one I've seen from the DOT.

Today was sunny with a high of 88. Last night was a different story, however. Around 11:30 PM, a nasty squall line blew in with straight-line winds gusting 40-60 mph (some of the strongest I've personally witnessed) and a heck of a lot of both positive and negative lightning for about 20 minutes. I estimate there was about 1 flash per second or some absurd number like that. Largely no damage, but a couple fences around town were blown over.

We had a fascinating weather day in Atlanta. Going into today we were in a slight risk of severe thunderstorms, which was supposed to be mainly for a line of storms that would move through in the morning, with a smaller possibility of more storms in the afternoon. The morning line never really materialized this far north (it did in south GA), and instead we just had several hours of heavy rain. That prompted our severe risk to get downgraded to marginal since a morning of heavy rain and clouds is generally one of the best ways to prevent afternoon storms, especially if the cloud deck stays through the day. Most models were suggesting this would be the case.

Except that's not what happened. Early this afternoon, just about all the clouds disappeared and we got several hours of full sun to heat up the area... so we got upgraded back to slight risk and a severe thunderstorm watch was soon issued for most of north AL and northwest GA. And severe storms did happen: the first round of storms formed late this afternoon into early evening. Those were not too widespread, but if you happened to find yourself under one of them you might have seen hail the size of pennies to quarters or even half dollars. That was then followed by a severe squall line that had formed over western Alabama earlier in the day and tracked into the ATL metro in the late evening. Hartsfield recorded a 76 mph wind gust and just about the entire metro saw at least 2 inches of rain and significant lightning.

Sounds like what we got here. Lots of nothing, except when it really did happen.

My goodness, you traveled from Michigan to Florida and I scrolled from Michigan to Florida.

Trimmed that down to a more reasonable size for you.
